~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

MommaB:  We have never heard of that....and I have been on here for almost 5 yrs.  Never had a problem with sailors visiting Navy Lodge before.  I actually checked with RTC about this...and they told me it was not true---but it sounds like maybe in special situations....I'm going to doublecheck again with Brian Walsh at RTC about that.  Of course we would never want a sailor to disobey orders....nor would they want to!   Sounds like it was a very special situation.  The SRs have been told this now in most of the PIR groups for the past few months, but until your post, it has not been true.  Thanks for letting us know that there are special situations.  My advice to families then would be not to stay at Navy Lodge.....a shame since they have great rates, but better to be safe and stay at another hotel that a sailor could visit.

Thanks for letting us know!

LoriM,

You're so welcome!!  Yep, she's probably love 80's vs 50's~~

MommaBB,

Sorry, apparently this was a special situation.  On all other weekends, there is usually no problem with Sailors being with their families in the hotel rooms~~  Wish the Navy Lodge would have advised of this special event, so the families could have booked at a hotel where the Sailors were allowed in the rooms to relax~~  :(

diannep has been here longer than I have and she thought the same thing...

U don't want ur new sailor to start out their careers questioning or breaking the rules on their first day!

Just wanted to let the admins know that the "rumor" u advised to ignore was not a rumor! There were a couple of div that were not allowed to go into a private hotel room. They had to stay in public places. Lobby was fine. However the great lakes lodge was off limits. There was a big navy ball fri night and a lot of brass was staying there so those kids were not allowed to go back there at all. Best advise listen to what ur sailor says. They will know their orders. Catmom509 don't tell people to ignore the Liberty orders!

I want to congratulate all of you!!!  It was great to meet all of you I got to meet.  I also want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the support through this journey! I had very little time with my Sailor however I happy to report she is in FL in 80 degree weather and loving it!  Thank you all again!

Hi Friends!

"If the Lord delights in a man's way,

He makes his steps firm; though he

stumbles, he will not fall, for the Lord

      upholds him in His hand."

Good Morning!  Safe travel today, enjoy the MeetandGreet tonight, be early to PIR tomorrow!  For those driving to PIR, be sure to stay to the left on Buckley (main drag to RTC)....car line will be on your right for RTC.  Bypass RTC and turn around in the train station right past it....head back from the opposite direction and it is an easy left turn onto RTC!  No wait!
