Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hey everyone my daughter is in ship 12 DIV 321. I am interested in becoming friends with each and every one of you of course! I really look forward to meeting as many of you that I can either the day prior to PIR or that day. I noticed that not everyone was able to get their call either due to missing it or it not coming. Sorry for that. When I went through boot camp almost 24 years ago I was part of "THAT" company that didn't get but one two calls during boot camp ! LOL! I remember well...your recruits are all in good hands and once the actual letters start rolling in you and they will feel much better. They won't have much time to write but don't get stuck on only returning letters. It is a great comfort to get letters from home I promise. They do want to write so make sure you tell them a one liner o's just fine.

My SR was sent to the hospital last week and had a doctor's appointment today-is this still a no news=good news situation? He said he has  felt fine since then but I am one nervous mom, any answers are appreciated as I am freaking out

Made reservations for the Sleep Inn for thursday and friday night. It's the closest hotel and if the weather cooperates, we plan to walk to PIR.

I thought I was the only Mom without a phone call yet... I know it has not been quite 2 weeks yet, but seems like forever to me!!!

Comment by LoriM on August 25, 2014 at 3:26pm

Has anyone made hotel reservations yet,, if so where are you staying?

Comment by LoriM on August 25, 2014 at 1:14pm

Anybody get any letters today?  My mail don't come til after 3pm so I am still hoping.

Comment by Heidic4 on August 25, 2014 at 12:07pm

I try to keep my phone on me at all times-however sometimes that is impossible.I have begged and pleaded with my family, friends and coworkers that if my phone rings and I am not near it PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE answer it! Everyone has been extremely awesome about it :) Especially since they all know I am a basket case waiting for a phone call....

Comment by CatMom509 on August 25, 2014 at 11:22am

crybabymama,

Any way for you to put your phone on an extra loud ring by your ear or on "vibrate" in your clothes or is there someone else who could pick up the call and wake you up?

Good Morning!

Good morning all. Prayers out to our Recruits and Sailors.  I have been through the long medical, FIT and SEPS,, with my daughter last year so if anyone is in this situation and needs some answers I am willing to help as much as I can. She petitioned to get back in and is in boot with PIR date of 10-10.
