Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 948

Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hi Everyone!  My SR is in SHIP02/DIV948 w/a PIR 10/11/13.  Our first SR graduated from boot camp last year, SHIP02/DIV946!  (Thus, my log on name).  Too funny, huh?  I hope everyone is getting through this okay.  The first 3 weeks are usually the toughest because of the lack of communication with your SR... after that, 10/11/13 is just right around the corner!  Actually, we totally lucked out this time... we've received 2 phone calls!  Whoop!  Whoop!   Try to keep your spirits up for as difficult as it may sometimes be... I still have emotions flowing.  Our kids are growing up and taking control of their own lives... they are setting their own paths... and it takes a lot of bravery to leave your comfort zone of family and friends.  The sense of pride of being a parent of a sailor and a future sailor is and can be very overwhelming!  Been there and doing it again!  Hugs to all of you!

Good to read that your SR is doing well.  My SR told me that when he got there he got sick (a cold) and it seemed like something was going around - ick.  Also, he said the same thing your daughter did, that the call I received today... as great as it was... will probably be the last one for a while. (sad face)  Oh well, I will take what I can get! ha!

My SR called this afternoon....YIPPEE!!!!! He sounded AWESOME!!! He was exited about his group earning the Academic flag. He is one of the older ones in the group, and the EPO, and apparently the younger ones like to chat quite a bit. He is anxious to start 3-1 tomorrow.
My son is in 948. He talked about his EPO, your son I assume, who will be challenging for RPOC. He is going to recommend my son for EPO if he gets RPOC. My son also said his division is chatty, which gets them in trouble, and they forget to flush the toilets. The good news: they have good RDCs.
Hi everyon, my son is in ship 2/Div 948 . He's doing well and has made the honor guard team. He tx us we could watch his performance online but I can't find out where. Does anyone know the website I can look on? Thanks

The link to the livestream for PIR in on the main page of this group. and is located in the "Pages" section, which is just under the member photos on the right side of the page.

Thank you... I feel so overwhelmed with the info

Hello there all!  My SR is also on SHIP02/DIV948, she was hospitalized for a couple of days her 2nd week there due to a staph infection but seems to be overcoming it and has passed her 1st test.  She said "book your ticket mom i'll be graduating 10/11/13!"

My son said that someone called a training timeout during the running portion of PFA 0 (for an ankle sprain I think). He's not sure how that will affect E2 advancement, which requires you to pass your "DEP test" and the first PFA. He passed the DEP test, push-ups, and sit-ups and was passing the run (he runs 1.5 miles in 10:40) when the timeout occurred and the PFA was halted. Many others are in the same boat. The situation has gone up the chain of command because ranking up immediately affects their pay as well as when they're able to advance to E3. I'll post more when I hear more.
Have you heard anymore about this?
Not yet. Waiting for another phone call or letter.
We got a letter from him on Thursday. He said he's getting promoted to E2 because he passed his DEP test and his PFA. However, he didn't specify details. I'll write him again and ask but you'll probably hear from your SR before I get another letter. I imagine we'll get the "I'm a Sailor" call in about a week.
