Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 379 and 380

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Carolyn, when my daughter called me yesterday, the call said (847)xxx-xxxx Waukegan, IL. So I knew it was her! So don't answer any more of those 800 numbers :)

I got very lucky with the call. she actually was told to call because she needed some info on a reference she needed for a clearance. It wasn't the regularly scheduled "first" call (beside from the "i arrived" call). We did get to talk for about 15-20 minutes, and it did my heart so good. I specifically asked her how the division was doing, so i could let you guys know, and she said so far, so good! She said it is hard, but knowing the outcome, it's doable. They were issued their NWU's (google it) on wednesday, and her boots hurt lol. she hasn't received any mail from me or her dad yet, even though we've written every day since we got the form letter. what else? the food is really good, even though she's a vegetarian. she told me about getting her shots; the peanut butter shot in the butt hurt a bunch, but the others were nothing. she said the girls in her division are not getting along and that they are mean to each other, and there are problems every night at lights out (arguing), but that all in all, the guys are having a rougher time from the RDC's. that's about all i can remember right now, but if anyone asks specific questions, it might jog my memory! oh, she did say she has to have her wisdom teeth removed, even though our family dentist said it wasn't necessary...hmmm!

My son called this morning and the boots put him out of physical activity for 4 days..mandatory. He was actually not happy about not being able to do what everyone else does. The physical stuff is what he is best at. The guys are getting along great. He says he has met alot of cool people already. My call was only 5 minutes long so we had alot to cram into that conversation. :) He said there are tons of rules he does not know and that when one person messes up the whole team has to pay the consequences but he seemed OK with that. He also said that their RDC's are seal instructors as well and therefor are supposedly some of the toughest in camp. Yet that made him even more proud and he wants to be just as good as them. I thought i would get a call from him crying sense it took me 4 years to convince him he would be great in the military but it appears that once again.......MOM was right. :)

Hi MCrews- My son told me the same thing about the RDCs in their Div. he said the 380's Divisions are SEAL Div. and that their RDC is really tough but he was good.  My son said he had blisters too but was using the mole skin and some medicine the dr. gave them, he has not been held out of anything for it though. (fingers crossed they heal and he doesn't) My son sounds a lot like yours, he is also good at physical stuff, he really considered trying to be a SEAL, he took some test that he passed but decided to stay with his job he has.  I told him this would give him a little taste of what that would have been like. ha ha I hope this group focuses and works together to do a good job and get through bc! I did hear that they had been in trouble a couple of times because of a few people. :(  Maybe our boys are friends in there???? He said he has met some really good guys and made some friends.

Hello RTC moms,

My son is Div 380 and I also received a phone call Saturday! It was so nice to hear his voice. They seem to be pushed to the limits and I hope it will get better soon.

Please remember to write a letter for a SR who may not be getting any mail. I think how hard it must be to endure this without an encouraging word from someone!

That is a great idea. I will have to ask my son( in one of my many letters) if there is anyone he knows that is not hearing from family or friends and would appreciate a letter. That way i can mail it to that SR directly. My son is going to probably request that i NOT write so much. :)

My son is in this division.  He is going to be a MA after boot camp what is your son going for.

Your daughter is in the same ship and div as mine. She called for info this week too, but I also got a call today. She said the same thing, that most of the girls suffered from entitlement factors and they were in trouble every day. She has met a few good ones, I hope your daughter and mine have gotten along. She said, when they are told "toes on the line" it means toes on the line at 5:45 am, not later. She always gets there before.  I can't remember much else either but it is good to hear their voice. If all goes well, they will be able to write tomorrow(sunday). I think all the divisions have hard time. My daughter is 25, so I think she has less tolerance of some the younger ones. hhhhmmmmmmmmm!
