Welcome to the discussion group for divisions 343 & 344. These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the main wall to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

My Son is going to Pensacola for A School too. he told me that he has to be at the air port by 12;30 am after the PIR

Have a great day everyone.  Hoping to get a letter by Friday.  It will be great to get some details on what my son is thinking about this experience so far.

So I got a really quick phone call from my fiancee last night to clear up a few more security clearance issues and he asked if I had gotten the letters he had sent. So I think we should all be getting a letter this week because it seems like they finally got to write!

My son is in ship14 Div 343. I am still waiting for a letter or phone call. I believe he will be going to MI for A school.

Good Evening all!

My son's girlfriend received a letter today.  He is having a ball.  He said they had their first real day of training on
Wednesday.  He said the food was good.  He is one of the older ones in his group (20).  Said that there was a lot of younger ones in his division and the entire divisions were getting yelled at and doing extra PT.  No one has received any mail yet. He has received 6 shots and had lots of blood drawn.  He has received uniforms,  He also is getting his wisdom teeth taken out.  Said that it should not affect his PIR.

Thought I would share what he has been thru to give you all an idea of what is going on.  Hopefully I will get a letter soon.

Thank you so much for sharing!! This is the first piece of news and it is great to hear something.  I hope they get our letters soon for some encouragement from home!

My fiancee is in that group of 20. I wonder how he likes it.

Good morning!

My son is also in DIV 14 SHIP 343.  We received the box and form letter on the same day.  No calls or letters yet but we are anxiously waiting.  Hopefully they have started to receive mail.

This site is amazing!  It really helps to come here and be with other mothers going thru the same thing.  Our "real life" friends and co-workers are supportive.  But they don't know what it is really like for us during these 8 weeks.  Doesn't matter if you SR is fresh from high school or "experienced" in life (20+ years old), it is still hard.  I am a navy brat, a navy sister, and army wife (retired) and my SR is one of the older ones.  I thought I would handle these 8 weeks with ease.  But I was humbled the first night after he left with no understanding of why.  NavyforMoms.com is a lifesaver!

I look forward to meeting everyone in October!

Hello everyone! Still no mail! At this point, I feel like camping out at the mailbox until something comes. LOL. Glad to hear that some others have started hearing something from their SR. That's encouraging. Has anyone made their reservations for PIR yet? I am starting to and am not sure which hotel to choose. Also, has anyone signed up for any of the Meet and Greets yet?

Hello, my son is in ship 14 div 343 also! Im also trying to be very patient for a call or a letter!! I made my reservations at the Ramada in Waukegan Gurnee. I meet someone awhile back that stayed there and they liked it. I read in a blog somewhere that someone stayed in Gurnee and the area was a little rough! Im still staying there becausemits close to base and they have a shuttle to graduation. I hope this helps alittle!! --Dana

We're staying the the Ramada in Waukegan also.  Chose it for the indoor pool which the younger siblings will enjoy and the price.  Also small fridge and microwave in room, which is nice so we can take along lunch items and just eat out dinner.  We'll be there for the weekend because son has A school in GL.  Can't decide if we should just do the meet and greet there (would be more convenient) or go to Sarge's which sounds like has a lot of information.  My SR is Div 344.

Hi my name is Kim. My SR is in ship 14, div 344.  I got a letter finally!  He said that they gave him like 6 shots too.  He said he received some letters that me and my mom had written him.  So I am so glad to hear from him.  He seemed like he was in good spirits, just misses everyone.  Oh yea...he said he didn't miss his XBox, but missed music.  I guess I didn't realize how much of the little things we take for granted!  I live in Alabama, and my SR was born and raised in Alabama.  He will be going to A school in Pensacola.  Then from there I'm not sure.  I hope all of you start getting your letters soon!  It definitely made my day.  I have read it like 15 times.lol
