OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

diannep- praying for your friends son.

When I got the call I was in excitement overload and forgot to post that all 342 passed and " they Rocked it" according to my son :). Sounds like all 4 DIVs passed and I'm so excited for them all. Leaving tomorrow and can not wait for Friday!! I do have a question......we have 3 extras that want to come along to see our son. Can they come to PIR?

Congratulations to you all!!! Safe travels and Happy dreams :)

Ladies, please pray tonight for one of our sailors.  He is the son of a lifelong friend of mine....been in almost 4 yrs....based in Jax.  Pregnant wife, 1.5 yr old son.  He was trying to intervene in an attempted mugging tonight and was shot in the stomach.  In surgery now.  We are in shock...this is the guy who influenced my son to join the Navy.  Great guy....he just finished conducting his bootcamp class (he has one for his neighbors in their subdivision).

His mom is one of my best friends and she/hubby are driving up there now (6 hrs).  Prayers please!

navynutmommy:  Thanks so much for posting that.  I don't know why the sailors are told that families cannot meet them out there...because they can!  And we strongly encourage that!

And, so sorry about the wrong area code that I gave you on the numbers....DUH !  Was trying to do it in a hurry.  Glad you found the correct numbers!

Yay I just got off the phone with a really nice lady at USO midway The # is 773-582-5852 and Ohare 773-686-7396. She said that I can meet my daughter at the airport and if I wanted to I can go to the ticket counter and ask for gate pass. She said they let 10-15 people go with the new sailor!!! Thanks Diannep =)

diannep I tried calling the USO #'s you provided but they don't go through. It says you have reached a # that has been disconnected or no longer in service =(

I HAVE A SAILOR!!!!!!!!!

Comment by diannep on October 17, 2012 at 7:28pm

Just know that they are bussed early to the airports to wait for flights.  Some have to wait all day.  I didn't know about airport visits when at PIR for my son....poor guy....his flight was delayed....3 times.  he actually didn't leave until after 12 noon.  So we could have had a nice morning visit with him.

This is a very special time with your sailors (and a chance to give them their cell phones, laptops, etc) so please plan to go!
