DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My son left on August 26. He did not call me the first Saturday. Did others get a call that day? He is in Ship 03 Division 336. Anyone else have someone in the same division? I am new to this site.

Lori K - also from what I understand is they can volunteer for jobs and by doing that they move from a E1 rank to E2 which is a little more pay.

wendycc-my daughter is in the same ship and division. We got our call yesterday. It was great to hear her voice and to know that she is doing fine.

The 900 divisions are the performing divisions.  They have to maintain training in addition to practicing for their performances in two PIRs in addition to their own.  So they are very busy but the good news is that you may get to see your SR before PIR on the Livestream of the PIR service!  They should be participating in the 2 PIR services prior to their own (there is one every Friday).  So be sure to watch the 10/10 and 10/17 PIR services on the LiveStream to see if your SR is performing (some in the 900 divisions do behind the scenes work, not all perform ).

jennifer, the 900 division will probably be on training day 1 on Tues....all of the divisions are within about 2-3 days of each other in training. They become sailors at different times.  The first group will be sailors on Fri, a week before PIR.  The last group will be sailors on Wed of PIR week, most likely.  Its all good!  They all get there!  They have too many SRs in a PIR group to all be on the same training schedule!
