WELCOME TO PIR 10/26/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hope most of you are on your way to RTC by now....enjoy this wonderful day!  Remember, if any would like the PIR DVD and your sailor didn't already order it, you can order in the NEX after PIR.

This site has been so helpful including meeting up here in Chicago with some other awesome NavyMoms I've been chatting with on this site. I not only have a new sailor but a few new friends too!:) See you all tomorrow!

Spent the day in Chicago... you can get a bus pass for the day at the pharmacy or the currency Exchange! Save yourself some money that way!

By the time we headed home it was late and we were tired so we went to Flanagan's. There was one other couple there :-) but they had the BEST food!!! Lots of it and excellent and good price. They will have a lunch buffet for $9.99 tomorrow if you need a place to eat and it is right on 137 a few blocks from the base. it is on the south side of the road.

Sorry I missed Sarge's but we did well by mistake! LOL  We will see you all tomorrow! Happy Graduation everyone! And many many thanks for all your help through this amazing journey.

Yes amaris that is fine to wear to PIR, and will look very classy.

You will see all kinds of attire from the (ahem) not so appropriate to the very dressy. I wore nice jeans and a sweater to PIR and that seemed to be the norm that PIR, of course it was April and very cold (we had to scrape ice off the cars windshield).

So the dress code, we can wear nice jeans with a blazer, right?

The changes that were made for the additional guests were made within the two RTC sites, their official website and their FB site, in their FAQ sections...NOT on REALLY public place like the wall of the RTC FB site. You have to "know" where to loo...and I have been watching them both daily for this change since folks from this group reported calling PAO.
(The caps are for emphasis, not shouting, on phone, no italics :-) )

Very unfortunate, KevsMomKim.  Like FTLW said, in past groups, the extras most always got in, even though they went knowing that it was not a guarantee to get in.  Now RTC is saying...don't even bring them.  On one previous PIR group, someone posted that extras who showed up at RTC were sent back to their cars to "wait."

Please post tomorrow after PIR and let us know what happened with any extras in this group.  We sure are hoping that extras who got this "don't come" info too late will somehow be able to get in.

Oh... And by the way, I'm on my way to Great Lakes.... Yeah!
Comment by dohnermom on October 25, 2012 at 1:58pm
I know everyone is talking about no extras this pir and I know people have called and they say no, but what's confusing is on the RTC Site it is talking about this rule for a Nov pir that has like 13 div's but nothing for our pir. So I guess people will just have to find out tomorrow. Be sad for those who change their plans and then find out extras could have attended.
