Good morning! I have a question: Is it better to take the shuttle from the hotel to PIR or drive a rental car? We plan on staying in a hotel close to the base & will be renting a car but don't know if traffic will be a nightmare to park & leave. Thanks!
Good Morning! I don't know how my sailor feels in the morning and at bedtime, but that's when it hits me the hardest..him not being here. I cry into my pillow and over my morning coffee. I think once that 1st real letter appears, I can feel more at ease as long as he doesn't sound down. I remember how I felt while in BC many, many years ago...but again, females tend to be a little more wishy washy. Any other moms out there still be hit hard with emotions?
Good Morning!
Flying in to Milwaukee is a great idea. Not only can you usually find cheaper flights but the drive isn't bad at all. It is only a few miles further than O'hare but it usually takes less time because the traffic isn't nearly as bad.
Neither of the Airports have shuttles to the hotels in Great Lakes. Sarge has the best prices of any of the taxi services there and he is former military and will treat you right. If you can find someone else who needs to be picked up at the airport around the same time you can even share the cost. It is my understanding that it is a little more than $50 for that service but don't quote me on that :-). Sarge is the same one who does the Meet and Greet at the Sundance Saloon. He is a great guy and so supportive to all the military families. All the Meet and Greets are family friendly.
We are flying Southwest and they aren't refundable but you can get a credit towards another flight if need be. I also reserved a car from National and we are staying at the Homewood Suites near Great lakes, they have an ad in the flyer that was in the form letter. $74 for a 1 bedroom suite.
I just booked our flight, we are flying in to MIlwaukee as it was $300. cheaper for the flight and $150 cheaper for the rental car. We went to Great Lakes last year as my daughter was in Sea Cadets and did a corpsman training there last year. It is an easy drive from Milwaukee to Great Lakes. Let these next 44 days go quickly and safely for our recruits.
Hi all i was wondering if anyone has gone with a retired military parent or grandparent to PIR. My dad is retired army and she did not list him it does say they dont need to be but I want to double check hes so proud and looking forward to seeing her graduate. Shes on ship 12 div 348.
