Hi, I am a Seal wannabe mom. Looking for other moms that are dreading Pre buds and then the big move to California for Buds after graduation.

PollyAnna--thank you so much for the sweet and thoughtful comment. You certainly live up to the optimistic outlook of your screen name! Best wishes to you and your SR as well as the others. :)
There is actually a Blue Candle tradition on site that was started by one of our N4Ms moms, but in the end traveled nationwide, beyond this site. Whenever your Sailor is away from home, especially on a holiday, you light your Blue Candle as a sign that they are remembered, missed and being prayed for. :)

Will be also praying for success for your Div as they go through Battle Stations. IF they did start last night, then keep those phones on and close to you at all times today. They finish at 8 am, then have their special Capping Ceremony and a debriefing. They should start making their "I'm a Sailor" calls between about noon or 1 and 4 PM GL time. :-) They will sound very tired, but so happy and proud! Congrats on the Captain's Cup success!! =)

In case you haven't seen this, here's is a video about BS21: http://www.navyformoms.com/group/battlestation21trainingvideoclip

Nice thoughts Polly Anna. Thanks so much for your well wishes and prayers for these SEALS candidates, current trainees and of course, those like your friends son, already serving! They are amazing, courageous, young men. I wish safety, protection and mission success for him and his TEAM.
Thanks for staying with us Angie and keeping us informed! Cannot wait for the I'm a Sailor call. I am burning holes through my phone, just trying to will it to ring. Tried that with the mail delivery person, but didn't work out so well. ;)
Yay! I FINALLY found this group after searching and searching! My son is in Div 823 and we can't wait to see him this Friday. I'm curious as to how long pre-buds will be after graduation, and if our kiddos will be allowed to come home for Christmas before shipping out to Coronado. My whole family lives out in CA (I'm in AL) who are excited that IF he gets leave once in a while, he can go see them.

SO HAPPY I found this group! We're almost there!

editing to introduce myself. I'm Freda, originally from Northern CA but presently in AL. My husband, daughter and I are flying up to Great Lakes on Thursday for the big day. I hope we get in lots of time with our son before leaving on Sunday. Hope to meet some of you other moms while there - it'd be great to connect to other moms who are going through the same thing. I have friends with kids that have gone off to college and try to equate that with my son going off to the navy. I know they mean well, but it's completely different. Their kids will come home in the summers, ours won't. They'll finish college and get a job, ours will be far away, maybe on foreign soil, possibly be putting their lives in harm's way....
Hi Freda,
Welcome! Some of us have heard that this group won't go to Buds until February, but everything seems subject to change. So, we just need to sit tight and wait--hard to do for all of us! I have also heard that they will get to come home for Thanksgiving and Christmas--again, not sure if this will happen--just something I have heard. If you haven't done so already, go back through these pages and read the posts for more info--especially those from AngiefromWA. Her son is well on his way to becoming a Seal and she visits our site to help us with information. She offers great insights on the process!

Do you know about the Meet & Greet at the Ramada on Thursday? It is for the entire Ship and I think it is from 6p to 7p. I know that those that will arrive early are going to try to attend.

I know what you mean about friends not understanding. This is a great group and everyone has been very supportive and understanding!
Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies. It's nice to Know we're not alone in this adventure our kids are going through together...

ladybug, brie and tsmom, what's this about a meet-up on Thursday night at the Ramada? We are staying at Residence Inn and arriving late afternoon, so we'd be in town before then. I don't know if hubby had plans for Thursday night but I'll check and get back here. In the meantime, I've got to go back and read through all these posts and learn as much as I can before we leave!
Just got a letter from my son and he said that they were doing BS 21 on friday with captians cup on Saturday So according to the letter they are already done with BS21 but they could have changed it or he thought it was on Friday and it was another day. Just a letter not a call but that is the word I have, if anyone knows differently let me know because I could be wrong.
I thought they would call too so I was very confused also. So I am not sure if he was wrong or that they changed it. Hope he's wrong and we get a call soon.
From everything I have read, they call shortly after BS21, so I think it is happening tonight or later. I also read that they go in order according to your division number, and that hasn't been true. Who knows??? All I know is I am on pins and needles. It's only 8:20 here in California, so I am still hoping for a call. Hey, I haven't cried today, so I am due...LOL
LOL--too funny! I'm feeling a bit "punchy" myself. Love your little ladybug pic!
that is nothing compared to what we are getting here in Chitown!

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2010/10/25/warning-high-winds-ahead/
My son hasn't written once, but at least he made all his allotted calls, so I heard his voice. The weather sure looks blustery there in Chicago. Down here in AL we're going through tornado warnings with 80 + degree, muggy weather. If I can handle that, I can handle the windy city any time. I just hope the weather cooperates no one's flights get canceled or delayed...
