Aircrewmom~ yes, there is a price to pay with leaving those behind! It is still cheaper than the kennel. I love my dog, and she is very kind, to us. She is getting very possessive of the house though. She perks up in the middle of the night and barks like crazy even when a car just goes down the street.

Mom-to-sailor, I thought of that, but my husband and I are the travel sargents. We try to do carry on only. I have learned it is much easier to get in and out of the airport. But, believe me, I have anguish over what to pack and what to leave behind. It is quite a struggle. Especially when the weather is unknown.

I was touched because the son that is staying behind made his brother chocolate chip cookies last night. They are individually wrapped in papertowels and in a zip lock bag so they do not stick together.

home made cookies - brownies (with edges) -- I am thinking as long as they are in the checked bag, I am OK...
PMoaS - maybe youcould make all but the cans of sauce (tomato sauce, tomato paste etc) and put it into double or triple zip lok bags... go to the store near by and purchase what you left out ... it could work -- put the bags into tupperware bowls with tight fitting lids - you should be good to go

Speaking of cooking; I was going to make spaghetti and meatballs for my SR and bring it to him to just heat up in the microwave. But, I thought that airline security may view the sauce as a liquid. It would kill me to throw it out at the security screaning.

I just loaded up the refrigerator for the son that is staying here while we are gone. I am sure he will have friends over and make a huge mess of the place, but that is ok, he is taking care of the dog and such.

thank you Lynn -- we have become quite a cohesive group here -- sharing our joys and our disappointments. I think this group of women have really bonded and cannot wait to see/meet you at PIR. Should we not be able to meet at the M & G -- is there some way we can ID ourselves to one another? The ribbons will help I am sure
