N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

@Catmom509-sharing the information isn't an issue...anything we get, we scan and email to each other.  What I was wondering is if two passes can be printed for the same SR.  I didn't know if passwords were SR specific with limited prints or are they for the entire Division.

keirstan'smom,

I'm so glad that the Navy was compassionate to your daughter's situation and needs.  Prayers for her and the fiance's family & friends~~

Keristan'smom - it's sad to hear that your daughter suffered such a traumatic loss so early in her life and when she was away from you.  You are all in our prayers.  It's good to know that the Navy took such good care of her.

Wow keristan'smom, that is wonderful how they helped. And God bless her as her heart heals all while she is serving! I have to say they have been working with my SR to try to let him stay. They have encouraged him that if he has to come home, he needs to heal and come back. How wonderful they are is part of why it is so hard for him to think of coming home. Prayers for your daughter, you and her fiancées family!

Wow, keristan'smom.  What a fantastic post, and what a horrible tragedy.  I'm so very sorry for your loss.....but so proud of you for posting what you did here.  I know of another story like that where a SR's sister was also killed in a car accident while he was in Bootcamp and the Navy was just as great in that case as well.  Thank you for sharing here....and prayers for all of you, especially for your SR, as you all recover from such a tremendous loss.

To all the parents that have been having doubts, my daughter arrived in Chicago from Ca at 6:30 our time on Sept. 2nd and 9 hours later her fiance' was killed in a car accident. I contacted the Red Cross requested a chaplain be there with her when told. The Navy rushed her through critical parts of getting her ID and her dress whites, and lots of paperwork and allowed her to come home to be with her family for a week. Then she went back and the helped her to get what she needed to continue on. That was a blessing from the Lord. We will be forever grateful and never forget the compassion and understanding that was expressed at our time of need. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. So if you have any doubts about the Navy please remember they have the best interest of our children in mind at all times. No matter if they get sick, or have a medical problem they will do what they can to help. I truly believe that. I just want you all to know that they did a great thing for my daughter and they will do the same for your children. Going through the proper channels gets results. Trust them it is ok

Harley,

Assuming all 4 of you are on the Access List, one will have the gate password from the Form Letter and the other should have been told by your SR that you are on the Access List and been provided with the password from your SR~

PIR is all about your SR and hoping that one or the other of you be able to share the Access list and password with each other~~

Angela,

Prayers for your SR's back~~
