N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Address for RTC?

Well, there isn't a good one that takes you to the Gate you enter for PIR   So,like CatMom posted, RTC gives you:

3355 Illinois Street, Great Lakes 60088

This is a building on RTC. RTC is big and has lots of buildings;-). The Gate Shack is at the Gate where you enter for PIR and it does not have a "location". I tried pinning it on Google maps but get bad directions. GPS will direct you to Buckley and to turn right onto Ray street for the Ray street entrance, Gage 55. This is incorrect and for personnel only.

The entry Gate is Gate 8 on Ohio.

So, if you are using GPS or just looking at a map continue past Ray Street, East on Buckley and you will soon see RTC on the right hand side. The first street after Ray is Illinois (Gate 6), continue past that to the next street which is Ohio. Here is where you will make a right and continue up the hill to Gate 8.

There will be signage and Navy personnel on Buckley directing folks.

I know that's long...hope it helps.

Here is a map:

Gate 8 (Ohio)is the Red dot to the left of the Buckley Rd arrow.

Gate 6 (Illinois) is a street back ("up" on the map) with the two red dots on it.

If you click (or double click) on the map it will open into another page and should be larger.

Renee:  I sent you an email with the info you asked.  Just know that once on Buckley, you will see signs directing you to the base.  I sent you the same address that CatMom posted below.

Renee6/365,

I found this info from the Boot Camp Moms group:

If you plan to use a GPS to navigate to the base, enter this address: 3355 Illinois Street, Great Lakes, IL 60088.

However, the you enter RTC from the main gate on Buckley Road which is the exit off the freeway.  Maybe checkout the address on a map to see the logistics of the location~~

JayDee, I am not sure about the ROTC uniform, but I would guess he could. I would suggest that he ask his commander,

Good Morning all

Good morning. I'm hoping that some of our experienced ladies can help me with a question. My daughters boyfriend is attending PIR with us. He is an officer is his high school ROTC and it was suggested that he wear his dress blues to PIR. When I said something to my daughter, she said she wasn't sure it was appropriate. His uniform insignia clearly identifies him as NJROTC, not as someone dressing up or impersonating an officer. Thoughts? I certainly don't want to let him make an incorrect or embarrassing decision here.
