My son has 2 years left since he added 1 year to his original 5 years. He is in Guam working on helicopters.

Hi Laura - We are doing great! Its hard to believe its been a year since Daniel came home, but I think everybody has moved past the disappointment and we are encouraged by the school grades and the fact he still has a job and is talking positively about his future plans as a teacher/writer!

I heard from a girlfriend today that her daughter has enlisted. Unfortunately, she was promised the moon by the recruiter, but got none of it! The daughter is shy and didn't want to make a fuss, so she just signed the papers! Hopefully something can be done, because she wants to be in the medical field and the "best" they could do was steel worker!

I gave my friend the N4M link and told her it was a godsend, so hopefully she'll get her questions answered and find a great group like we have...and hopefully we'll have a new MAS supporter now that her daughter will be a sailor!

Nice to see some activity on here again.... I've missed you all. Great to hear that oour kids are all doing good, Daniel is in Little Creek Va just out of Norfolk. In Engineering school. Went to see him a few weeks ago. Had a wonderful time.

yes Laura the Ike came back to Norfolk. We don't usually take big vacations so this was our summer of a lifetime! It's hard getting used to the kids moving out but the places they are going are fantastic and I am so proud of the adults they have become.

Got to see both my kids in July. Daughter married to a Marine stationed in Hawaii, we stayed with for two weeks and had a blast. Got to see lots of ships from RIMPAC and many foreign military people. Did a tiger cruise with our sailor son on the USS Eisenhower as they returned from deployment. If you ever have the opportunity to ride a ship do it!! Most traveling we have ever done, a very memorable summer.

Wow how lucky the Navy is to have 2 of your children, my hopes and prayers are with you. Its hard to believe that this time last year we were all spending our last full month with our kids home with us.
My Daniel is in Virgina Bch, loves it. Starts engieering school next month.

Congrats on Carley joining....is it scarier having your daughter join or not so much because you've been through it once already?
