emptynest, when did you get your phone call? I haven't had one from Daniel since 9/9 and I know he and Jimmy are in the same Div.

My son is ship 3 div 346. We had gotten a letter from him the first couple of weeks, but no letter last week. He must have written to someone else. He had a whole list of people he wanted to write to. We have only gotten one from him 3 weeks ago and he called my Mom because he didn't remember my work number so I personally haven't talked to him since he left home on 8-11. I figure no news must be good news.

Hello. My son is also ship 3 Div 346. I get letters from my son almost every week. He just sends little blurbs. He has never liked to write much at all. He has also been gone since 8-12. I agree with you in that I want the lettra and all the call. I however want him to learn his job. I remind myself daily that my son chose this life. I also hope they learn what they need to know, to do what they have chosen to do. I have always been proud of the kid my son left home as. I am certain that the man he will become will make me no less proud.

I know a lot of moms are down right now. We haven't heard from our sons or daughters and it sucks it really does. But, in perspective.... The Navy is cutting our apron strings. They are making men and women out our wonderful yet spoiled kids. They have to learn how to survive, how to help each other survive and how to come out on top. If they don't focus now they may miss something that saves their lives later. I want the phone calls and the letters too, but more than that I want them to learn what they went to learn. We have a lot to be proud of, our kids are serving the US Navy. I guess I'm on a soap box tonight, I think at some point I didn't realize my son had grown up.

I really don't think you can expect anything at this point. Daniel has been gone since 8-12 and I just got my 1st call on Saturday. We can only hope for communication anyway we can get it.

there are now reporting 3 people dead from the floods in GA today alone. Alli, we went to home depot and rent a pump - our back yard was up to Steve's knees and we were worried about it getting in the house. It seems to be helping but he had to go up to Woodstock to get it - all the stores are rented out of them. It was a bear getting back home, all of the roads by our house are closing down...don't know how they are going to get the kids home from school today but they are closing the schools early. Be safe GA gals.
