Hi Alli, I take it you've heard from your son..

Emptynest@42 The first letter was written the 26th, 2nd the 28 and last the 29th. They were all mailed on the 31st. I saw a blurb that our sailor's weren't getting their mail, but not sure how we'd know that was accurate. My son said he had received at least one letter...and the info on mail says it take 5 to 10 days for mail..and that may be because the sorting process since there are thousands of people there getting mail. I am trying to write him everyday, so since we didn't have an address until after the 1st week, depending on when letters were written, they may not have been sorted before the first round of outbound mail was sent....

Our oldest son was grad & go and he reported to A school in Great Lakes. That was 3 years ago so things may have changed, but at that time. We were able to talk to him for a little while after graduation and he showed us around a little. Then he had to go to get moved over to A school which took all afternoon. It was evening when he called and he was free the rest of the week-end to stay with us. We took him back Sunday evening.

Good Morning! I just joined this week-end. We have a son Nathan that is Ship 3 Div 346. We have gotten a couple of letters from him, but haven't talked to him. He tried calling last Wednesday, but was unable to call to a cellphone to his dad and couldn't remember my work number so called my mom and talked to her. At least he was able to talk to someone. She said he sounded good and that is the way his letters were too. He was able to talk to his brother, Philip, before he left and Philip gave him some advice. Philip has been in the Navy 3 years now all of which have been spent in Japan.
