My husband and I got our first set of letters this week! Sure glad we read the one written last first! Daniel was having a terrible time and thinking of quitting! By the 3rd one, he said it was "hard but fun" so I guess that means he is doing much better! We are hoping for a phone call! 10/9/09 is coming soon!

Check out the "form letter" discussion in the bootcamp forum. I copied it, made a few changes to fit us and am sending it off with a stamped self-addressed envelope. Don't know if I'll get it back or not but Sam will have fun reading it.

There is a way to zoom in some on the "GO NAVY" picture. Go to the site www.navy.mil In the upper left corner it is picture 4,click on the number. Go down from the four to the envelope looking thing, when you hover over it it will say hi-rez. Click on that. When the picture appears click on the magnifying glass, it will zoom in one time. You can kind of see covered faces. I can't see sunglasses, but I have really bad eyesight. How exciting we can "see" our kids!!!

he said 'I passed my DEP TEST so now I'm an E 2 and I'm on the ship staff (which is a really good job in boot camp)" and " I want to get the rank of seaman E3 right out of bootcamp" he sounds excited no matter what it means.

What does it mean to be on Ship Staff? and is E 2 good at this point or kind of expected? I'm sorry I just don't know about these things.
