Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Missy on September 27, 2013 at 9:18pm: 503 I will definitely take candy to the Meet & Greet, my 6 yr old is soo upset about missing Halloween so this will make him happy. We are staying at the Navy Lodge so maybe some of us families who are staying there can also let the kids go to the each others doors to trick or treat he really wants to wear his costume and I had to promise I would pack it for him.

It'll be fun :) My 14 daughter is upset about missing Halloween for the 3rd year in a row. We experienced that freak Oct storm in 2011 (no power for 5 days), then Hurricane Sandy of Oct 2012 (no power for 14 days) and now we'll be in Illinois for her brother's PIR... at least we'll have power LOL. told her I'll buy her her own bag of candy too. LOL.

When you are writing your text click the capital B Then write what you want and it will come out bold but just be sure to click off of it when you are done. But we still like passing out candy to the kids in the neighbor hood. So since we won't be home I wont feel so guilty now.LOL
