N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

In reading the recent postings, it sounds like each Div has its issues.  Thanks ellen0502  for the insight.  My SR had that "we are the worse" Division.  Hoping for all the Divisions having issues come together as a team soon. :)

Ellen,  Good to know!  You all have given me some good points to encourage him with in the letter I am writing.  I will keep you posted:)

FYI, Every TG and almost every division has a period of "we are the worst division", and the RDCs will reinforce that. They like to put some fire under their recruits butts to get them going. Those who will never get it will be weeded out, and those that will get it will remain.

It will be another two weeks or so and your SRs will start to change their thinking. :)

I hear you Emily, and I agree to some degree (lol rhyme).  My older son went through BC last year and had a vastly different experience.  His RDC's were extremely tough, but they had a great division and came in 2nd with points (all the divisions compete with each other on different things).  The guys really pulled it together and most of them were super intelligent and motivated.  Of all the circumstances I had envisioned for this, I had not even thought of this one.  Regardless, this is where he is supposed to be right now and I am going to pray hard that this all gets turned around for the good!

Girls, if it is any consolation, my son in 417 is having similar issues. Maybe it's par for the course? There are a handful of what he calls "idiots" who cannot get it together. Always talking, joking, and just not doing what they are supposed to. He says he hopes his division shapes up soon. I know it is a team effort, but I told him, it makes it all the easier for him to shine and stand out in a good way. ...lemons out of lemonade???

Mine is a section leader also. Not sure what the duties are.

Smile:  SO sorry to hear this.  If the language is an issue for an individual, he/she will be asmoed (setback) and put in special classes to learn. If your son is the AROC, he is the Recruit Leader.  Lots of responsibility.  He takes the "hits" for those not behaving.  Remind him that bootcamp is not like A School/etc---it gets better!.  Takes some longer than others to "conform."  The ones who don't conform will be discharged eventually.

As you know smile09 my son is in the same division and very frustrated. He said pretty much the same thing. He has always been the best he could be at everything in hs from captain of hs football team to class president, honor society and many other things so he doesn't understand why they won't listen to instructions after having to redo stuff a million times and a 1000 push ups later. He says they will do it again like nothing had been said. I feel so bad for him.
