Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by lisacast1277JACNavyMom on September 26, 2013 at 9:11pm: I'm so excited! Got my first envelope today with three letters in it:)- The mailman personally brought it to my door cuz he knew how much I've been anticipating a letter:)- He made my day!

My son is doing great! Is in good spirits and says that he misses us but is making friends in his division. I'm so thankful to know that my son is in good hands. Hope and pray all you Moms hear from your SR's soon.

I believe that Sarge and the Ramada (two MeetandGreets) supply nametags, but you can make and bring your own if you want.

My day off for the 1st was granted, waiting to hear about the 31st. Problem is I have been needing to take a lot of medical days off. (which I have been hiding very well from my SR). I think we need to wear name tags with our N4M names at the Meet and Greet!

I got a very long lettter from my SR. The first few entries were very negative, but they got better as they went. I am hoping she is truly doing better.

Spoke to my SR earlier too, I was telling him about this site, he said "one of the guys in my divisions Mom goes on that site too, he is from Portland"!! Omg!! I said that has to be 503 808 ship 03 Div 416 PIR Nov1's SR. My son says "he's my homie" LOL!!
