N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks diannep   and  melis1234.   Maybe it does diannep or maybe she thinks she's helping.  Its not bad but I know where everything is right now and I don't want things accidentally thrown that shouldn't be.  I think I'll put a list together of things she can do that way we're not butting heads.

I guess I was wrong about my SR and I guess I won't be hitting the power ball lol cause we received a letter. Now that was a good surprise. I was told they do a lot of arm circles and air chairs and tasty the TP sucks... lol I guess they don't have charmin. Lol I booked our room for 2 nights at the Navy lodge. I'm excited

Does anybody know if there is any way to track your "kid in a box"? My SR has been gone for 23 days and we haven't got the box yet. Got my first letter today (HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY *does a little dance*) and he asked if I'd got it yet, his iPad is in there. Thank you ladies, for all of your posts, this site has really really helped me stay somewhat sane :)

Lucille, congratulations. Having a fiancé at bootcamp is something to be both proud and excited about. Honestly, it's been terrible for me having my son away, but I got my first phone call from him tues, and a nice long letter today. It seems like a cloud has been lifted just from hearing from him, and knowing how he is doing(which is good...just a little homesick!!) how is it for you? You must miss your fiancé horribly!

KB2OWJ; my 16yr old started acting out more then usual the weekend before his brother left and just the other night he was getting in trouble for the second day in a row and I brought up his brother and he broke down and started crying that he is missing him. They are 13 months apart and had not been wanting to admit that he misses him and was holding everything inside as most kids do and I am hoping now that he finally was able to get his feelings out that things will get a little better.

You are welcome, Lucille!

KB:  Sounds to me that maybe by organizing those things, it helps her to feel "close" to those two people.  Just a way for her to deal with their absence from her life?  Just a thought.

Tspittley:  There is a MeetandGreet (actually two) held the night before PIR.  One is at the Ramada, 6-8 pm.  The other is Sarge's (the bigger one with more info) from 5:30 -9 pm.  These each have some food for you, are free to all in the family/friends (Sarge has a donation box for anyone who wants to donate anything since he/his wife pay out of pocket each week for this, but it is purely voluntary).  If you look to the right of this page here, under "events" which is the column to the far right, you can scroll through there and find the MeetandGreets for your PIR date.  You can RSVP on there.

BKNavyMom Ship3 DIV416  Nice!  Kinda wish we where flying into Milwaukee. But we should arrive early enough to beat the traffic. And we are on a direct flight. So crossing our fingers flight is on time.
