N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I just went home during lunch to check my mail - still no letter (other than the form letter) from my SR. I'm hoping the mailman was running late!! We have been writing him everyday (multiple times a day)...I could really relate to what everyone was saying yesterday about being a crazy navy mom. :)

Ladies, we would like to ask everyone to please not start separate "division" groups on this site, outside of this PIR page.  The site administrators had requested this of us a couple of years ago....the division discussion groups above should be sufficient to meet each other and chat on there.

By starting separate division groups outside of this PIR group, it eventually clogs up the site with what will be dormant groups eventually.  We keep these PIR pages open for you after graduation (the group title will be changed to "Alumni" then)...so you can all stay in touch on here.  It is just better to do it that way!  In the past, N4Moms has had to "close down" for a couple of days due to maintenance issues and we all go through withdrawals!  UGH!  So let's try to keep the site moving along by staying within the PIR groups here.

If anyone has started a division group on N4Moms separate from this PIR group, please close the group and join your discussion group above!  Thanks!

Yahooooo Sarabi2013! I can't wait to get home today and check my mail and see if there's anything from my sr!

Woohoo!  Two letters from my SR today!

NanVM I think you are supposed to count off 9 Fridays.  The first 4-5 days they are there are for processing days which don't count as the bootcamp training.

When did your SR leave?  Did you get "the box" yet?  I would wait for the form letter to be sure.

Comment by diannep on September 19, 2013 at 8:28am

Correct, there will be no sailors at the MeetandGreets  :-(  You will have to wait until PIR to see them!

Comment by diannep on September 19, 2013 at 8:26am

Good suggestion to check both, Veleaka.  Just remember that one advantage of Southwest is "no change fee" (I had to change my reservations when my son was there due to him being setback a week) and also 2 bags check for free.  Southwest runs specials too....and has a "wanna get away" rate that is usually cheaper.  So....ladies....be sure to check all of your options with the different airlines and see what works best from your city!  Remember that Southwest flies into both Chicago-Midway and Milwaukee.  Drive time from Milwaukee is shorter and you can avoid tolls by using Hwy 41.
