DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Luvsbichons:  Yes, your SR will be the one to "update" the list shortly before PIR---it will not be mailed to you....but will be with security personnel on PIR day.  You will need to correspond with him on which 3 names should be there.  We are still waiting for official word from RTC on the number of divisions in this PIR group, but 13 looks like the number.

Nooo not 3 guest! If this is true, why did his letter list all 4 of us? And does my SR decide which one of us gets cut...will there be updated list sent out to us? Oh Lord help!!

I have only received the form letter myself. He did call unexpectedly today with needing some info for security. He only could talk a second. Just long enough to get info. He did say that he thought he may get to call Sunday.

Great nigh all, Have not heard from my son yet or received any letters from him personally, and I wont lie its been very hard for me to adjust. Although I'm extremely proud of him. I just wanted to thank you all, because this site does ease a lot of my worries and concerns as a mother. Its great knowing there is so much support from other moms. Thank You all....

Thanks... perhaps he will go into psychiatry and put those 2 years in college to good use . I have faith everything will work out for him.

Sorry to hear your news KatXMom. I hope they find him another job he likes even more. I know this is so tough. I had to send my sons passport in for his security clearance. I know nothing about it so it is just another thing for me to worry about. Wishing you and your son the best outcome.

Thanks Emily. .. I hope so. Sucks not being able to bandaid his shattered spirit but this is part of becoming a young man. I have to allow him to make the right decisions for his future and learn to deal with life's setbacks on his own.
Comment by diannep on September 17, 2013 at 8:17pm

Although SRs in the past could add other SRs' "extras" to their own guest lists if theirs weren't full, that is no longer allowed and could get both SRs in lots of trouble.  So please do not try this.  Your SR's guests need to be on his/her own list....
