N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I received the form letter on Thursday. He is ship 9 division 417. I cannot wait to get a call though. I miss him so much here. I have been looking into booking a room for his PIR weekend. There will be four of us coming up there. The Naval gateway sounds like a good one but we cannot all stay together because there are already no suites left. :(

Good morning Moms and Dads... It's reassuring to know that our kids were given the opportunity to buy stamps and a phone card. I just mailed those items out on Friday. I have to admit, even after dorming 2 years at college, I haven't worried so much as I do now. I wonder if he has gotten in trouble for talking, as he loves to talk. Did he wake up with no problem because he loves to sleep. I guess until someone speaks to him and knows how he is doing, all I have is to worry. He is my first born, my only son and I had him young so we have a strong bond. Yeah, I'm missing my KID... lol

When I talked to my son yesterday he said he received my letters Friday night but hadn't had time to read them yet.  I mailed them on Wednesday night so it didn't take long for him to receive them.  I sent a book of stamps and a phone card  He said they gave him a phone card and a book of stamps and he'd bought stamps at the exchange so he's set for those two things.

My son told me today that he got mail from me already...

Just a reminder that they usually hold the mail from the SRs for the first 2 weeks of bootcamp, until they can get their Recruit Mail Petty Officer trained.  So go ahead and write the letters after receiving the form letter, but if you don't get an answer right away, you know why.  They will get their first delivery of these held letters, usually on a Sunday, and then they can write that day and mail out on Monday.  They will only be allowed to mail out letters on Mondays from then on, but will be receiving mail M-F.

They have many non-swimmers who enter the Navy and they hopefully will learn there...since they must pass that test.  They will work with them.  They have the entire time in bootcamp to pass it.

Welcome to the new members of this group!
