OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

2 more Fridays! I can't stop watching the calendar. I won't be able to make it to PIR but I'm still very excited. I hope the basket project is still going strong. Have a great and productive week everyone! Also, I hope 420 gets a phone call in the near future. ^_^

So adorable, Lala!  She is precious...I think our grandkids should wait until they are potty-trained before marrying...  :-)

Lucille21, you hit the nail right on the head with that video. That song has had the same meaning for me as it has for you since even the days before my son left for bootcamp!! I couldn't believe it when I clicked on that link!! Thank you. I have been very, very kid sick this week.

Awe, congrats Diannep, I am so so happy for all of you. Grand babies are the absolute best in the world. I can't believe my first grand baby/granddaughter Eastyn is 2 1/2 months old already. It takes less than a second for them to own your heart <3 Mason is beautiful and if it doesn't work out between Easton and the prince we will have to get our two together hahaha. Congrats to all of you. Here is my new pic of Eastyn :)
