N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thank you all for your kind words. Last night was one of those nights, I was a little "kidsick", LOL. Now I am clinging on to my phone hoping he will call... And if he doesn't, Thursday's mail is only 4 days away.. LOL

Thank you KB2OWJ And to make things worse/better he has an un believable personality and dimples to go along with those eyes. He earned 10 dollars helping his dad with some (back breaking) construction work. And all he wanted to do with it was buy his mom some flowers Love this kid.

That is too funny 503 808.  Yup I'm sure they are more confused now than before. :P  Happy Birthday to your grandson too.  He's gonna be a heart breaker with those eyes.

Michael'sMom:  If they are setback in training for any reason and it changes their PIR date, they will call home.  So, yes, no news IS good news!

Good Morning All !

I'm hoping to receive a phone call today. He did call last Saturday but I know some Mom's with SRs in his division didn't. I know I read on here somewhere that if they did not pass their tests they will get a phone call so I am assuming he is passing. That was his biggest worry when he called. So I keep telling myself,,,no news is good news. I still want to hear his voice.

All of you posting on this site are making this time so much easier!!!

KatXMom MyI husband was in the Navy and has shared plenty of good stories with our son. Therefore I believe our son grew up saying he was going to join the Navy when he was older. When he was little I used to tell him no you should go to college. When he was still talking about it as a teenager I thought maybe I should stop saying no because if I keep saying no maybe he will really do it. Therefore I started just telling him to do whatever will make him happy and allow him to support his family. I gave him the same advice when we discussed his job choice. I made sure he did not pick based on salary because although I realize it helps it doesn't make you happy. I thought maybe being more neutral I could get him to switch to college. That is not what he wanted. He told me last Nov he was going to enlist and I asked him probably 100 times if he was sure and we had many discussions until he signed up in Jan. It is really their choice and now we just support it and hope and pray for the best. I will say that I was very angry with his father because I think him making the Navy sound like such a good opportunity encouraged my son to join. Now our son is in the Navy and I am left with two very non emotional people. You ladies have been a tremendous help to know that I am not alone. My family thinks I need to get over it already and I think I have actually done well. However, when they are your child for 19 years and you have always worked the time just flew by and with the service (unlike college) there is no transition period. He went from being my kid in HS to my soon to be sailor living an adult life. I have been told week 4 is often the week a division comes together. I hope it works and we will all feel better knowing the nonsense within their divisions is over. Hang in there.

Good evening everyone happy anniversary KB20WJ. We are staying at the Residence Inn but the one in Lake Forest/Mettawa IL they tell me it is about 6 miles away. I had a heck of a time finding a nice place that has a pool and allows dogs. We live about an hour away so I want to bring the dog for my SR as a surprise. The dog is getting up there in dogie years and I think it will really make my SRs day. No calls today but we did have sunshine and I forced my self to have a productive day.

KatXMom:  My son also made a rather sudden decision in joining the Navy.  This after the job market tanked and he couldn't find employment.  He had an older friend who was the same type of personality as he is go in the year before, so he decided to consider it.  After about a week of thinking about it, he joined.  No matter why a SR joins, there will be great things they will learn in the Navy.  They grow up alot.
