N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Katxmom, don't be so hard on yourself. You raised your son and taught him how to make decisions for himself. All we can do when our sons are grown is offer our advice and unweilding support, but they have to make decisions for their life. Just be proud of your son and have faith that he will have am awesome future and a great adventure!!

KB2OWJ Ship 03 Div 415 I hear you take while you got it. I lived in Ohio for 8 years and 8 years in Chicago. But then I traded in the snow and humidity for liquid sunshine. (Rain) Those blue eyes belong to my little grandson who is turning 10 on Tuesday. Yes they are gorgeous he gets them from his mom.(My daughter in law) Our sons are in brother divisions. I have to share a funny story about those eyes. I was talking to one of the moms on here. We knew our sons were in the same division. And our sons both knew that there moms were on this site and both wondered if possible we knew each other. So she asked her son if his buddy had beautiful glassy blue eyes. (Based on my profile picture) Her sons response was "Really Mother? I don't look into his eyes" Then I said I bet you a nickel he went back to see what color eyes my son had. Here is his moms response. And yes, I bet he did check out his eyes, LOL The funniest part was he must have been really confused because my son has dark brown eyes. So now I'm sure both of the boys are wondering what are they talking about. Because I told my son I knew his buddy by name. (cause his mom told me her sons name) But the other mom didn't tell me her side of the story until after she talked to her son.And my son has no idea that I used my Grandsons picture on here. Anyway sorry so long but I had to share.

I am sitting here wondering if my SR made the right decision. Should I have encouraged him to finish the 2 years left he had in college rather than support a spontaneous idea he had of joining the Navy. As parents we want the best for our kids. We want them to live life to the fullest. We want to protect them all while allowing them to experience life and become responsible adults.  Perhaps it’s the not knowing that has me doubtful. The unanswered questions I have.  The inability to shut off the worrying for long periods of time. I am all for protecting our country. I am all for making your own decisions and taking life as a learning experience to build character, maturity, and grow as a person. I believe the paths one’s life takes them are meant to be there. Yet during these pensive moments, I quietly wonder...

Thanks 503 808.  Sorry you're having such wet weather. Praying for that you catch a break and I'm sending some sunshine your way :)   I'm in the Northeast and hearing we're suppose to have this great weather for the next week or so. Gotta take it when we can.. not going to have this for much longer.

KB2OWJ Ship 03 Div 415 Your welcome. I haven't heard anything yet, I'm assuming its because he is busy right now with his shuttle service because of PIR. But I for sure will let everyone know as soon as I hear something.
