N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

mommacnavy:  Piks of the capping ceremony are very special....and there are very few of them.  I remember a couple of times, RTC FB posted some....but it is not done often, I don't believe.

SMW:  I hope the worst that can happen is that he is held at RTC for a few days after PIR to wait on the waiver before flying to A School.  Shouldn't affect him much at A School since they usually "hold" for a while at A School anyway.  So ridiculous that the records were all supplied in the beginning....and now this, but we hear of this happening.  Prayers that it is completed in a timely manner!

TraG151- dang, right in the middle of it...

SMW729 I hope they get that all worked out. I hope they don't do that to my son that had a compound fracture of his arm and has some metal in it. For them to work this hard and not get there because of things that we already for waivers for would be terrible.

She flies in at 8:15 at Midway.

Oh no, TraG151, that stinks.  What time does she arrive & what airport?  I will be picking up my daughter that night at O'Hare & 10:50pm...after Meet & Greet.

pnt- I agree, it would be awesome to see, but I do agree with diannep that it's something special and positive they have with just their RDC's.  Such a bonding & pride thing for them.  At least we will get that tearfully proud phone call afterward!  Do they take pictures of that, diannep??  Now THAT would be pretty cool to see since we can't be there!

SMW729- what the heck?!  I don't understand that either... why did they go through all that to medically clear him before they even let him go to Boot Camp then?  Well I will be praying that all is well and he gets his waiver (again)!!

Comment by SMW729 on October 14, 2015 at 12:58pm

I received a few letters yesterday and I got some news that has caused me to stress a little bit.  My son told me he now has to get a medical waiver to go to Pensacola because he has been treated for acne and had a cleft lip when he was born.  They had ALL of his medical records from the time he was born and we waited endlessly to get medical clearance so they could go over his file.  Now he is told that if he can't get the waiver he could be medically discharged.  So far I have not heard another word from him and the letter was from October 2, so I guess that's good news.  Please send prayers, good juju, whatever, that he gets that waiver.  Thanks.
