Welcome to the discussion group for divisions 371 & 372.
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.
Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there!!!
he said in his letter that he would be in Texas for about 15 weeks...so I'm not sure really what is going on. Hopefully we will find out the exact details soon. Would be nice to know for the holidays
I believe that's right unless they specialize! I read it's approximately 14 weeks on the papers my bf signed when he enlisted. I have another friend who has been a corpsman for about 2-3 years now and he will be going back to school to specialize has a radiology technician. So I think it depends on many things how long they will be in school for, but for sure at least 14 weeks after BC.
My bf's recruiters told him that they SHOULD get some Christmas leave, but probably not Thanksgiving or New Years. I'm planning to visit my bf during the Thanksgiving holiday because he will have liberty if he doesn't get duty. Unfortunately he will still have a curfew and I don't think he'll be able to leave the base, but that's fine by me! As long as I get to spend time with him :)
I was told they get Thanksgiving! Hopefully. I might die if he doesn't. I think I might go to TX too to see him! We should talk sometime or meet during PIR! Message me or something! :)
Yup! My bf will be going there after BC :)
Just booked the Navy Lodge for PIR Nov 9!! Anyone else staying there? I saw someone say it's about 2 miles from the PIR ceremony... anyone know about shuttles to the event or will I need to plan on just taking a taxi?
Excuse me if I'm a little pissed that my son hasn't been able to call home!!!!!!!!! What the hell is going on that they can't get a quick call. It has been 5 weeks! I was under the impression that if they were sick or failed ANYTHING that they would get a call. My son has had both happen to him and I get nothing! I find out WEEKS after the fact!!!!!!!!! Does anyone else have these issues?!?! A little common decency and respect for the families of these very special young men and women who have decided to devote themselves to their country. I don't think it's too much to ask that they are permitted to make a two minute phone call. For God's Sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of all things, you would think a branch of the military would appreciate RESPECT!!!!!!!!
Sorry you haven't heard from your son and that you're upset about that. What kind of sickness and/or failure did he have? They don't give them a phone call unless it threatens their PIR date and you honestly don't want that kind of call. If he had called, would you have worried less or more? They're not being disrespectful. From what I understand, the military keeps all families in the dark and has little to no concern over civilian matters. What matters most is getting these men and women trained to properly serve the country. This probably won't make you feel better but I see this as reality. In a way, they are being considerate so you don't worry needlessly about the little things that don't matter in the long run.
My son wrote me that he failed the running in PT. I know it was most likely because he was sick with a cold, two ear infections and pink eye. He also had his wisdom teeth removed. He had been running before he left and lifted weights frequently. Thank you for the response. I know that you are right. For every worried thought that I have, I have thoughts of how I know that they really don't care what I or any other civillian think about how they run BC. I do understand all of those things. I constantly feel that no matter what I say, it always sounds corny. I'm sure it sounds as if I coddle my son. I am his mother and he is my only son. I am sure that no further explanation is needed. Thanks so much for your reply. It is comforting to know that I have a listening ear out there and the voice of reason has responded. Once again, this site has offered me comfort in my time of despair.
I am so sorry you're son has gone through so many mishaps, during his time in boot camp, and no it doesn't sound like you coddle your son, I would have felt the same way. I pray for all our young men & women and remember whatever they are going through is only making them stronger, for themselves and our country.
My son also had his wisdom teeth remove and had an ear infection. He failed his hearing test because of the fluid in his ear. His letter said he was concerned that they were going to send him home. I haven't heard from him since 10/16, so I don't know what is going on. It is torture not knowing. He is also ship 12 div 372
I haven"t gotten a phone call since the one where he arrived and called me in the middle of the night. My son was sick for the first couple of weeks. I thought that I had just missed a phone call. Those are just a reward though, but my daughter called us a couple of times when she was in boot camp. Did anyone get their information about the PIR yet? I thought we got something when my daughter went through the PIR.
