WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Juliette, I am with you for sure.  But think, tomorrow we are down to 5 weeks!  By the middle of next week we will be halfway there!  We just have to keep positive because we know that once this part is over, we will have the communication back, which is by far the hardest thing to be without, especially in a relationship!! We can do this, I know we can!  Whenever I get down, I think about feeling this way, while marching around carrying a 30 lb pack, doing pushups and getting yelled at...lol, then it doesn't seem TOO bad ;)

Hoping that I get a call later today...maybe a letter? My life is spent hoping...waiting...and wondering. I can't wait for October to be over so I can actually live again LOL. Ugh....

I just have to say I am the one that runs the FB page for our PIR of 11/9/12. I am very careful and check those that ask to come in. Is it perfect no. But I check and I watch everyone and everything. We are careful with what we say and do. I am on this site and I appreciate all the answers and info I get from here but it is not as easy as FB and it is very difficult from the phone which is what I am on 90% of the time. FB however is very easy. I know we are not perfect but neither is this. None of us has our SR's ship and Div in our names which this sight does. I am sorry if this has taken away from this site any; I did not mean for it to do that. I just wanted and needed something easier for me and since others asked to join in it was easier for them too I assume.

If you hear of a specific problem you are welcome to contact me directly and I will look into it. I am pretty computer savvy and know what to look for. I admin several sites on FB and I admin several web sites.

In order for some one to join the facebook site they must friend me first and I do check them out. Privacy is out the window everywhere. If that was the entire issue then this site should not even exist. I am sorry If I have stepped on any toes, did not mean to do that. BUT my child is My child and I did what I did for him. We have now grown to moms, dads, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, husbands, wives, fiances, girlfriends and boyfriends all for the same reason. We love our SR's and we can easily keep up on FB. Again I am sorry. But I do only have their best interest at heart.

For those ladies heading over to FB.  Please stay on here also.  We will be giving lots of info on this board.

Also, as far as groups over there being 'private.'  Remember....this is cyberspace.  Private goes only "so far" on cyperspace.  More importantly, whoever is "accepting" members into the group....does that person really know who they are allowing in?  Don't think for a moment that some of the RDCs/their friends will not "get into" these groups posing as family members of current SRs.  Yes, it has happened in past groups.  Yes, they many times are on the N4Moms sites too, but the difference is that we caution you all to be careful of info you post here. The info passed on in these groups can get right back to the SRs, and depending on what is said on there, there is sometimes a price to pay for the SR.  If we see info that could be risky posted here, we will tell you all....so far, you all are doing well here!  :-)

We N4Moms veterans are concerned that you all will feel you can disclose personal details of what your SR tells you in these "private" FB groups...and that is not true.  There have been some dire consequences of ladies doing this in the past, and their SRs paid the price (sometimes the entire division).  Some would even beg their moms/gfs/etc to please get off of the site!

So, do not be lured into a false sense of privacy on FB.  Has anyone been watching the privacy issue news lately re: FB ?  Private messages being posted on people's walls (happened to a friend of mine), advertisers targeting FB members through email/phone numbers?  "Privacy" seems to be fleeting these days on these sites.

As with all cyberspace sites, please be careful what you post anywhere.  Before posting personal info from your SR's letter or phone call, ask yourself:  Would my SR mind if I share this?  It is fine to share what activities they are doing, etc...but personal feelings about people or things they are doing...not a good idea.

Sorry to rant so long here, ladies, but this is a very important subject to us N4Moms veterans.  Our N4Moms team has been working here for a long time and we have seen the good, bad, and the ugly.  We want the best for you and your future sailors, so we do our best to protect your private info by advising you the right way.  We will continue to do that here, but will not be on the private FB groups to remind you.  So be careful!

Anndrya, he may have had watch yesterday and that is why you didn't get a call. If he did have watch he may get a chance to call another time although I don't think it's guaranteed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you will get the call today.

I am hoping a letter Thursday. My husband says I need to stop obsessing on communication with our SR. I just really miss him.

America - That FB group is private, that's why you can't find it.  I'll send you invite here and then we can go from there to FB.

Ladies, just remember that A School is a whole different scenario....you are back in contact then!  So hang in there!

i tried to request phone cards from that site and it has NOT worked for me...I think I should go on sabbatical from N4M til I get letter and or call!  Then again hey maybe I am SPECIAL, and I am being reserved for the phone calls, and the letters are for everyone else...ok a new angle on things...ugh
