Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Lucky (the dog) is going to get fat from all the cookies he is giving her as we sit on the porch waiting for him everyday (my lunch hour). Keep remembering, no news is good news, if there was a problem we would know and that is worse than not hearing anything.

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on October 3, 2012 at 9:05am: sundown, my son was in ship 4, when there wasn't a special ops division division. The RDC's that trained my son's division were the same ones who do train special ops, though. I hardly ever got a call from him, so don't worry. I was actually beginning to think that they had lost my son up there, lol, because every other division was getting phone calls when I wasn't getting any. They work them very hard. My son's division did win Hall of Fame, so in the end it was well worth it.

Comment by Jodi-alumni Ship 4 on October 2, 2012 at 9:56pm: sundown, the 832 is a special ops division and therefore they are pushed really hard. My son was in 818 and they didn't get to write until a week after everyone else. Part of that was because there were some guys in his division that had a problem with "shutting up and listening" and when one guy screws up the whole division is punished. Hopefully you will get a letter soon.

I subbed in Kindergarten today and missed the goodbye call from my Sailor. It is not easy to explain tears to 21 five yr olds. It feels like boot camp again and I hope I get an address soon so I can send her some goodies :-)
