Southwest from where I'm flying from was WAAAAY over priced to fly into Midway. About $300/per flight...Not roundtrip but per each flight. About $600 roundtrip to fly a mere 2 hours is just absurd to me....I was able to find roundtrips for 300.
Ladies, if you haven't booked your flights yet, please make sure you check to see if Southwest Airlines flies from where you live. You are able to change your flight date without fees, in the event that something could happen (it usually doesn't though). They also will allow two free checked bags, which will save you a lot of money too. They will fly into Milwaukee (about 45 minute drive to GL) and to Midway in Chicago.
Oh okay. I was just wondering. Because I booked my flight last night, which was non-refundable. I mean, I'm not doubtful, I believe in my SR....but there's always that glimmer of wondering, what if...ya know? Well I guess that's better than nothing just in case. I wrote him last night and said, you better pass BC, my plane tix are non-refundable! No pressure or anything...LOL. But I was totally kidding....I know he'll do it lol.
I got a question....if a flight is not refundable - what do some do say their SR got pushed back a week or two for graduation? How do you work that out? I'm not in that boat, and hope to god I won't be...but I'm just curious what happens to people who book flights and such and then PIR gets changed??
lisashd: So sorry she was asmoed for a week, but it will work out. My son was asmoed for a week also when up there, and when he got back to a training group, he did great. Once you are at PIR, you will be so happy you won't even think about it!
I did want to add some info to ellen's post below. PLEASE stay through the weekend even if you think that your sailor will be flying out Saturday. Because...we have found that on holiday weekends, when Monday is the holiday, many times they cannot get flights on Saturday and they may not fly out until Sunday. So just in case....please book your return Sunday or even Monday...just in case you get more time with your sailors. This happened to FTLW and she was thrilled to get the extra time with her son (Memorial Day weekend for them).
ellen, this makes me SO insanely happy, I cannot tell you! I was wondering if we would get an extra day, so excited!
FYI!!! If your SR is staying in GL for A School, you will also have Monday with them since it is a holiday. If they are leaving GL for A School they will most likely still leave Saturday.
Good Morning everyone. My daughter got pushed backed one week so her new PIR is Nov 9th. I missed her yesterday so i didn't get any information from her. I don't know where her new ship/div is. I am so upset and sad that I wasn't there in the house when she called. She sounded so down...:(
I just checked lol - it's Seattle Washington - is there any relevance there for anyone lol...my SR is going to FL...so not for me haha...but you're right! I just thought that was funny...all i do is cross off the days...October needs to get outta here now!
