WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

:)  Juliette, that's because you just need to make it through October to get to Chicago!  Motivation honey, we'll even take the unintentional things!  (Just curious, what's November??)

So I thought I'd share this - kind of stupid, but...kind of ironic? I took a second glance at the calendar tonight - each picture for each month is of a certain city..I just looked again tonight and noticed the city for October is Chicago, Illinois...how weird is that LOL? stupid i know...but it gave me the chills!

debzz3 - She volunteered for the performing division (900) and probably filled one of the last few open spots, so that is considered a "push" for her.  Meaning, she has one less week of BC than those that arrived at the same time.

Hi all. My daughter is on ship 02 division 952. Her division is actually a week ahead of her but that is the one they put her in, don't know why. She was scheduled for graduation Nov. 16, but now according to the form letter it will be Nov. 9.  At least Good Lord willing and the Creek don't rise.

They live for mail call so write as much as you can, they will thank you for it. I wrote every day my daughter was there and she said the letters was what got her through each day :-)

Comment by diannep on October 1, 2012 at 5:21pm

Remember, mail delivery to them is M-F.  They usually can write Sundays, which means mailed out on Mondays.  As bootcamp goes along, sometimes they can write/mail out extra days, but in my son's case when he was there, he always could only mail out on Monday (although they could write other times during the week, just couldn't mail out).

Comment by diannep on October 1, 2012 at 5:19pm

But remember....no negative news!  They need to focus on bootcamp!

Comment by diannep on October 1, 2012 at 5:18pm

Rememeber, ladies, you are their contact to the outside world.  They are very isolated in there and love to hear news from home, sports scores, news from the pets, etc.  Also remember that they may ask you why you stopped writing even though you have been writing maybe everyday.  The mail system can get clogged, as we all know, so if they don't get a letter one day, they probably will get 2 the next!

i figured my SR must have written a long letter to his GF and by the time he wrote me the brief note he was tired. Already mailed 3 booklet of stamps and told him to share for anyone who needs it.

My fiance has been away from his parents for over 12 years....as they live overseas. He's one of the most bravest most independent people I know. He has very little family here, so I just feel inclined to write him alot even though I know he's totally okay with being by himself...I just want him to know that there's someone out there that does care - so he doesn't feel so alone on the inside.
