WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Juliette, did you make travel plans yet? I found a round trip flight going into MKE for 218. round trip.  No phone calls or letters here yet, trying not to be frantic but as you said we are heading into week 4, I guess this is the hurry up and wait I always heard about! The dog and I wait outside for the mailman every day, she is going to get fat from all the cookies he gives her!

Comment by Juliette on September 30, 2012 at 12:48pm

Hey everyone. I hope you all are having a good weekend! The weekends are my must busiest time, thank god lol - keeps me distracted. How is everyone holding up? I've been okay, but I'm really starting to wish I got a phone call....we're heading into week 4...this is just getting rough :(

That is awesome Betsy, great place to live for snowboarders :-) My Sailor went there right after Christmas last year with her big brother. My Sailors board won't be on the ship though, this will be a workup for her squadron so I am guessing it will be on a flight of some sort lol.

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on September 30, 2012 at 10:33am

Good Morning Ladies.

Lala, haha, that's funny about the snowboard making it on the ship.  That's very cool that she is going for training in an area where she can do it.  One of my daughter's also loves to snowboard and she just moved to Colorado.

I'm another veteran mom here with a sailor whose division won "Hall of Fame".  If your SR starts complaining about getting too much IT, there is probably a good chance that their division is one of the main contenders for that award.  My son's division was always getting IT'd as well.

ReffsMama, my son is on ship 12 div 372....no letters yet. I don't think anyone from 371-372 have gotten any, not 100% sure though.

My son is a part of SHIP 12 DIV 372.  Has anyone gotten any letters from your son yet???  I was wondering if our sons are about to write home yet???

Good morning everyone!!!

betsy, I am dreading that "waiting" feeling so much. All I have to say is my Sailor better be writing me as much as possible. I do look forward to stalking the mailman again lol. But I can tell you I am not at all excited about having so little communication again. I am so glad I have all my Navy family to help me through it :-) I hope your Sailor is have a great time and taking lots of pics. Mine will be going to do some training very soon in a location with a ski slope. They have a hard time taking things with them like snowboards but she has been told "they" will make sure her snowboard makes the trip lol. She was an instructor before she joined the Navy and "they" want lessons lol.

Wow, Betsy.  How exciting!

Good Morning all!

Hi ladies, hope you all are having a good weekend.  My sailor's ship just anchored in Malaysia, after a month of sailing over there.  Wow, can you imagine, Malaysia?  He has plans to kayak and snorkel with some buddies will there.  It kinda feels like waiting for the boot camp calls again, as I'm waiting for  his "I'm here and I'm ok, mom" call.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on September 29, 2012 at 9:50pm
