WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hey y'all. My son is Ship 14 Div 367. I am loving all these Navy Sites. It is the best way to find all the info that is needed and wanted. I love it. So much so I started a FB Page for all our grads for PIR of 11/9. It just amazes me how much support is out there. This is so great. So nice to meet you all. :-)

Tracd93  when did your son arrive at GL?

Comment by diannep on September 28, 2012 at 8:56pm

Ladies, the first couple of paychecks have all of their "start up" expenses taken out of them, so it is kind of shocking.  But....the next paychecks should be much better so don't worry!

Comment by diannep on September 28, 2012 at 8:55pm

Their pay should come in on the 1st and 15th of the month.  With Navy Fed, it usually comes in a day earlier (or earlier than that when the month ends on a weekend like it did this weekend).

In the future, they will receive a "uniform allowance" to replace uniforms.

Comment by ellen0502 on September 28, 2012 at 8:53pm

Yes uniforms, toiletries, books, pictures, meals etc. all come out of their pay.

Here comes the tricky part, they will receive an additional "allowance" every year for uniform expense, and meal expense, so basically their uniforms, and meals (those in the galley) work out to a zero cost to them. I am not sure when that "allowance" is given to them, but they will get it.

Comment by karens (alumni ship 13-Div 366) on September 28, 2012 at 7:59pm

I'm not really sure, but someone told me that all of their clothes, gear the chit book they give them then I guess the pictures they order all come out of their bootcamp pay, not sure what all of that costs, but I know the dress uniform is expensive.

Comment by Juliette on September 28, 2012 at 6:16pm

Ok cool. Because he had mentioned how so much money was being taken out of his first paycheck, which kind of freaked me out - considering he has BILLS...and well, we share bills - so....I guess I'll see what happens and when the pay comes...
