WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Boca:  Some may have called the recruiters for an address and written to that before the form letter arrived.

My husband said the same thing about mail call. Who the heck was able to get mail to them that quickly?? I got the address Friday night and had the letters at the post office when they opened on Saturday! It almost makes me wonder if the RDCs don't do a fake mail call at the beginning to bring their spirits down!! :( I can't wait to write to him today and tell him how happy I was to get his letter!!

Definitely. She wrote quite a bit and it seems towarss the end of her letters things were getting better. They really do live for letters she was so bummed at mail call when she didnt get anything. I felt sooo bad.

@ Markellgohr.  So you got a letter from him.  Maybe his box went to his mom also.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on September 26, 2012 at 7:42pm

Markelle, that is very strange that you have not received the box. Is it possible it was sent to someone else? It arrives from FedEx, if you have a frint porch yuo don't really use check there. One mom found hers 4 weeks after boot camp started because she always went inside through her garage lol. Also he/she could have donated everything to charity. Or some rural areas have a problem when trying to get mail from FedEx. Definitely ask your recruit about it in your next letter.

I just got my first letter today--my sailor sounded good in mine but his friends called and were worried. I read his letter to them he did sound a little freaked out, but I know my sailor, he grin and bear it

Hi! I am so happy I got my SR's BOX yesterday and the Form Letter today! Now I can send my SR a letter. If you are here that means you got yours too. All is good!

We all come from different walks of life and are all in different stages of our lives. We also have different ways of handling "life" and what it throws at us. The boot camp experience isn't a big deal to some parents but to most that we see on these pages it is a very big deal. For some this is the first time their child has ever been away from home, the first time they have flown in an airplane, and the first time for no contact with their family. There are some who are super strong and are much better at handling this change and there are many more who are not handling it quite so well and they need a little more guidance. No matter which end of this you are on or if you are somewhere in the middle we are here to help you and give you all the love and support that you need. We can help you find answers to questions about bootcamp and A-school or C-school. We can even answer some questions about what happens once they are in the fleet. So matter if you have questions or just need someone who will understand when you are missing your son, daughter, husband, wife etc please come to us for that support. We all know what you are feeling and we really do understand. If you have questions that you don't want to post on this public page feel free to send me a friend request or you can even send me an email. I am happy to help in any way I can. To send a friend request just click on my pic or my name and it will be on the left side of the page. My email address is uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com   We are all in this together :-)
