I agree with FTLW. Please don't open separate groups on this site. The division discussion groups above are now open...much better place to get to know each other, but stay on this page too for lots of info!
Glad she reassured you, deboraho. Hang in there....
Morning Moms! Well today starts week three. Closer to getting letters and calls, maybe another week or so. I know this is hard for all of us but I try to think of it in a positive light. This was something my son wanted, worked hard to get in shape before he left and looked proud, confident and ready when I left him after swearing in.Do I miss him? HELL YES, every moment of every day, do I tear up and cry? yep at the stupidest things. Still haven't gone in his room, just keep looking at the tennis balls Lucky leaves at his door. However, this is a process for all of us. However hard it is for us, it is harder for them, they are away from home, no outside contact and being challenged more than ever before in their young lives. There is a reason for this, the Navy knows what it is doing, they cannot stay strong and focused as they need to be if they are worried that all is not well at home. That is why we have this site, for us to get it all out and have the love and support of everybody. Some of the Veteran Moms have sailors that are deployed, potentially in harms way and yet they stay here to support us Newbies, our SR's are safe and secure in Great Lakes, kind of puts it in perspective. My son made the choice to serve the Greatest Country in the world in the Greatest Navy in the world, though I am no longer his caretaker I am and will be his biggest fan and support him no matter how much I miss him. Just my opinion, not sure if it is right or wrong, but truly believe it.
tracd93 - Oh...if you meant that you added a comment up above to your Divisions discussion...that is what it is there for! So I am leaving your comment! :-)
Everyone,
I know it takes some getting used to...the site...but once you do it is not that hard.
The Main PIR Group is this main wall here that you have been using...
Then, up above where I have added SHIP/DIV Discussions is the "Discussion Forum" area, which is within the Group...
Then, underneath the Members Pictures is the "Pages" area. This is where we put all of the Information about BC and PIR etc that wee post on teh Main Wall here...
Up above the Discussion Forum area is the "Text Box" area...where the Count Down Clock, OPSEC info with link, and Weather Widget are located.
At the very top is where the Group info and group picture are...and now I have added some scrolling smileys with a link to the Meet & Greet info is located. Click that link to take you to the Page that has a synopsis of the Meet and Greets as well as a link to the Events themselves to RSVP.
No sorry's needed!
This is all a learning process and we just want to make it as enjoyable and as smooth as we can...please don't hesitate to ask anything...and if you are not comfortable doing it on the public places you may always friend me and message me privately...I am sure the other veteran members feel the same way :-)
If you have started a Group separate from this one...we recommend that you "close" it so that it may be deleted. You cannot do it yourself. Only the site Admin can. It is a safety feature that was put in a while back.
To "close" a Group:
Go to your Group.
Click "Options" in the top right corner of the Group.
From the Drop Down box choose "Edit Group".
In the Group Name delete the info and type in "CLOSED".
Go down to where it says "Group Address". This is the URL/Web address for the group. Delete that info and type in "CLOSED".
Now choose "Save" at the bottom right of the page.
This is why the safety feature was added. When a Member left N4M's...all of their posted material went with them..everything. So, if they created a Group (not just joined, but they were the creator) the whole group would disappear. Now everything but personal messages and a created Group just disappears..that way the members could still continue on.
The reason we recommend that you close it is simply less group hopping. You have your Division Discussions up above to get to know each other better Divisionally but it is good to continue to post on the Main Wall here as well. You all will be attending PIR together and your Meet and Greets (I will be posting that info shortly)
We ask you to post any questions on the Main Wall of the group here for the veteran memebrs. The reason being that we have 7-8 PIR groups to attend to at one time..that's 70+ Divisions...so we do not get to the Division Discussions as often as the Main Wall...but we do go through them.
N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC apply to your Division Discussions as well (anywhere on the site actually..."safety first" :-))
Thank you for your help and patience!
I am currently making your Division Discussions for you...they will be set up as Brother Divisions as they train together. PLEASE do not make any Discussions until I am done...thank you.
We set them up for you now so that we do not have so much clutter in there and so that you have room to add your own topic discussions later on.
