OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I booked my hotel yesterday and sent info to SR's mom, dad & sister to do the same.  The kiddos and I are going to drive there (only about 8 hours from Pittsburgh, not too bad a drive!)

Leahann, that is correct.  The divisions do train in pairs and 363/364 will train together.  It is not too early to book your hotel, as you can always change that within 24 hours of arrival if needed.  We do know that most recruits will graduate on time, so I wouldn't worry about changing unless something unforeseen might happen.

Depending on where you live, you might want to check to see if Southwest Airlines flies from your area.  If they do, I would book that flight now. SW does not charge for a date change, if needed.  They also allow you 2 free checked bags, which could run into some money if you needed to pay for that.  They do fly out of Midway in Chicago and also Milwaukee, WI, which is only about 45-50 minute drive directly to Great Lakes.  We do suggest that you stay in Great Lakes until at least very late Saturday night or Sunday, because if you sailor is flying out to an A school, you will want to stay long enough to see them off at the airport.  If you sailor flies out of a different airport than you would, you will need time to get back for your own flight.  Unfortunately, you may not know where your sailor will fly out of, until possibly the last minute.

Soupercook, I think that ship 11 div 363/364 are brother div or something. So I guess our kids will be doing some training together or something. Not sure how all that works. Has anyone booked their flights/hotels already? How quickly should I make reservations? Does anyone know which hotels are the closest or best? Wow I'm full of questions today lol. It is so cool to meet others that are going through the same thing as me. I felt so alone for a while. TY everyone, you are my life preserver, so to speak.

Comment by Calirose on September 22, 2012 at 11:51am

I've booked my hotel but not flight yet.
