Just got our letter today so not sure how many out there have the same information.  7 days in and he says it sucks !!!  probably so !!  we'll start writing to him,  encourage him to keep going and remember that you go through Basic Training, you don't stay there.   Better things await those who persevere !

God Bless all the recruits

Hey Nola - Congrats on the letter. Did it confirm your PIR date of 11/12? Still waiting on my letter...I've sent four to my recruit already though! :-)
We did not have a PIR date or address to write till we received the letter so that now helps us and my husband wrote the first letter/card tonite so will begin our journey of letters. He wrote his comments 2 days after getting there and can understand the lack of sleep and saying he hated this. !! Will be interesting to hear the comments as the weeks go by.
Glad you got some letters off allready I'm sure he will enjoy them. Thanks for replying.
My son left Sept 15th out of Boston, I received the quick call 9/16pm, then the box on 9/22/10. But no letter with PIR I think the PIR will be either 11/12 or 11/19 not sure yet.
Yes, wait to hear about what PIR date you will get. My son also left on the 15th and his PIR date is 11/12. You should get it this week, I hope?
I received my first letter today. He's great and he's doing great. PIR is 11/12/10 see you there.
How do you send mail without div # or PIR? I thought you had to wait till we receive this information?
Deb-nh >>>We waited till the letter came with all that information but have heard ladies say they called their recruiter. Our recruiter was non existent in our lives so that was not an option for us. We got the letter 1 day after the box but it's all different. You can always have a letter ready to go and just address it when you get the information. Hopefully this week you will have good news.
Nola- I am sure my son will write me those exact same words.... I am just hoping he goes with the flow and grins and bears what ever they make him do with a smile on.
That's great that you got your letter Nola, hopefully the rest of us will get ours soon, I know Diana and I are so anxious to get them!! I received his address on Monday from his recruiter and I got his box Monday as well so I'll keep my fingers crossed that the letter comes SOON!! It's funny how important something like a couple lines from him in a letter is, but I'm so excited to get it!!
Hi All! We received our form letter today from our daughter and she is on Ship 11 -Div366. She wrote a note saying that she loved it and it was cool up there. Made me feel allot better knowing that and seeing those 5 little lines she was able to write. I already have my letter ready as I have been writing it since she left a week ago yesterday. We are in Mobile, AL and she left from New Orleans. I cried like crazy when her box came. I know why the call it the "kid in a box" now, it felt just like that. Everything I sent her up there with came back. LOL I look forward to this group and "meeting" all of you and knowing you guys are going through the same things I am.
yes my son is in the same division366 ship 11 his name is jacob
yup, we have the same Div. and Ship number and maybe we can actually meet in Nov. I start praying now for the weather to be decent enough to travel in. We live in Iowa so we know how unpredictable the weather can be. We will be driving not flying so will just need to keep udated.
