Sharon, mine was self-employed too....I also had to close his business. INo employees either since I let them go right after his death.... know how tough that is. Challenges that the Lord gets us through! I've learned alot....and I pray she is blessed whether she stays single (as I have) or finds another! The Lord gives blessings in so many different ways! :-)

@diannep, I am sorry for the loss of your husband. I am sure it was/is very hard on you and the family. It has been and is challenging for my sister, they were self-employed and when he passed away, their income stopped. My sister has been home with the boys all these years and doing the paperwork for the glass company they owned. My sister didn't have any employees and she can't do the work, so she decided to close the company. It is hard, Kevin and I along with our K's help when and where we can. It truly breaks my heart to have to watch her raise the boys on her own. We did so much together, it is hard not to have him with us anymore. I know and pray that God gives her another to love and one to love her and the boys. It will be one year on 02 December, we will get through it and I pray that she be blessed once again. Thanks for sharing your story!

haha well being of the male "species" lol. I am not sure if they listened... Kyle thought it was gonna be a breeze. his sister tried to let him in on some things and he chose to do his own thing, no I am sure he wishes he listened to her...lol.
No to volunteer for a job is better than to have a job given to you. Kyle said he is a section leader. This sounds great at first.... until you find you are in charge of making sure they can all pass the inspections and that all racks are good. They have to run marches and depending on what section leader you are, you have to call the cadence or just march. (my daughter was a section leader she said she had to do all the dirty work like yell and got none of the glory stuff like marching in the front) I think KGS said her hubby is a laundry petty officer. Much the same good and bad about that job I am sure. Always better to volunteer than to be given same as in the civilian world!! lol....
Things change on a daily basis for then, They may have been the best division Friday and yesterday been a min late getting up. They can earn or lose the calls. I have learned that calls come whenever. When they get about 2 weeks out you will see that calls will be at very different times. Just hang tight and understand we want to hear from them, they really really want to call home. They need to just hear the voice on the other end.

Tobianne that is funny here we are talking all the time and you have already met him. We offered the exact same advise before he left home. I still don't know about a job assigned or a volunteer position? I hope we get another call soon. Thanks for being so kind to him on his way out of town.

You are so not alone I hope they don't get to down without the calls either, certainly took the wind out of my sails, even motivated my husband to write another letter. I already went to the post office instead of waiting to drop off letters on my into work.

Me too, I hope they don't get down by not being able to call. I'll just write more. He asked me to send pics, but I had already sent a bunch before I got his letter. Hopefully they will help & he'll think his mama is smart, cause I got the suggestion from Navy for moms!
