We are from Michigan. From what Diego tells me in his letters, there isn't anyone else in his divison from MI. I find that so strange, you have 87 guys and no one else from our state. Makes me wonder just how they do the divisions. They do have a guy from Ghana, Africa. So, where is everyone from?

@Sheilah, that is so awesome. My dad had dementia and he was so proud of our children. It was a challgenging relationship with him because of the wife whom he married after my mom passed. He knew something was wrong and didn't like it. He was very confused, but always talked about the weekend that he was up north (from our house in MIchigan, go north and it's up north). They went to my parent's property for a Labor Day weekend and played Paintball all weekend. They had a blast and that is one treasured memory that he never forgot and my boys and husband will always carry in their hearts. He passed on 09 Febraury 09, but that memory lives on in us. Glad she now understands, that will always be treasured within the family. Enjoy every moment!!!

we received 3 letters on Thursday!!! He is doing well and is really impressed told us it is hard but worth it. Funny conversation with my 87 year old Mother with dementia. She keeps confusing SR Seaman Recruit with SR for nuns. So not only did we have the joy of receiving the letter we had the relief of Gramma who couldn't figure out why the Navy was sending him to a convent. She was so relived and laughed so hard about her confused mind, I know my son would of enjoyed that moment. Now she is proudly telling everyone that he is a Seaman Recruit and he's going to be a Sailor. She is picking up on the Navy language just like the rest of us. It was a treasured moment for both of us.
