Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Counting down the days...Three weeks before my younger son shipped out to Great Lakes, we were moving into a new house. I fell down a flight of 16 steps and broke my legs. Well, the doctors re-casted me yesterday, and they believe that I will be cast free for my sailor's PIR! This will be my second PIR, and I cannot wait. My older son is a Petty Officer on the Eisenhower, and remember his PIR as if it were yesterday. To date, I have received one letter and also had the chance to talk to my recruit on the phone for awhile last weekend. I really miss him. Now, that I know that my legs should be fine to stand on as I hug him in a month, I am much calmer.

I am so sorry about your fall! That must have been horribly scary and painful!
But also glad to hear you can make it to PIR. It does sound like an wondefjl event.
Do you just have the two sons? or do you have other children too?
I guess you have been thru the bootcamp thing already. So you know what to expect.
Well, on the brighter side, even if you are still somewhat recovering and need assistance getting around in November, I'm sure you can get a ride across the RTC and some great seats at PIR! -

I have 5 boys and 5 girls. One pro golfer son, one lawyer son, 2 sailor sons, 1 married mother of 5, one married manager in a service industry daughter, 1 Senior daughter, 1 Sophomore daughter, 1 Freshman daughter, and an 8 year old son! The fall was terrifying and I am lucky that it was my legs and not my head that hit the cast iron radiator at the bottom of the stairs. I am just so happy that it looks like I will be able to walk at PIR!

NavySmom&Daughter funny nope not one of the families that live close for sure. It's still good to hear your daughter is in Div 004. I did not hear any negativity from my SR about his Div he seemed excited about Boot Camp last week he was still adjusting and had dental work and just sounded exhausted! It was so good to hear some positive about not just his experience but the whole Div.

My son said he had 2 wisdom teeth pulled. That they left 2 others. and he had 1 or 2 days recovery?
But it sounds like they allow time for these things, that he can catch up with the group. Is that what you heard? -

Tired Meow,
I did hear the same they are allowed rest after their Dental up to two days if they need the full two days. My SR had another procedure that did not require he rest. They are waiting to pull his wisdom teeth in A School. Maybe because of time management? Plus his did not need to come out yet.

I received a letter this past week from my Recruit. He said he's gotten his fair if yelling, but that he can tell that the leaders doing the yelling really care about the recruits succeeding. I thought that was a very mature and positive outlook. It made me feel more confident that yes my son is being pushed and challenged, but that he knows its for his growth. That he's becoming stronger and tougher mentally and physically.
I just wanted to share this because its something I've been reflecting on this week. It's made me feel better and a little less heartbroken and worried about my "kid". He's a grown man now. He's doing what he wants to be doing! He likes bootcamp and the challenge!
I can feel sad about the loss of the little boy I raised. I guess thats natural. But I really want to try and see it through his eyes. That this is a grat opportunity for him and he has an exciting future.
(easier said then done, right?)...one day at a time. :) -
