For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I just got off the phone and booked a 3 night stay Thursday through Sunday at the Navy Lodge. Rates only $66 a night I believe. You have to call the number, ask for reservations, explain you have a graduate at Great Lakes graduating. They will let you book it and then your graduate has to come in during your stay at some point I was told to show their military id. Very glad that I got that booked and out of the way. ALSO - if you are unsure of the graduation date, we got letters, but I have been told that there are times that they get delayed a week for some reason or another. I booked the following weekend as well to be safe and as long as you call before 6 pm the day of your first booked night you can cancel and no charges. So that is good.

yolie: Correct on Southwest not charging change fees (just any difference in fare) and they also check 2 bags for free! A good choice either into Milwaukee (45 min to GL, no traffic, cheaper car rental) or Chicago-Midway (hour+ to GL depending on traffic). They do not fly into OHare.
If you have to totally cancel your flights for any reason, you can use your ticket for up to a year to any destination.
