I feel like I am having a de joux moment. I am currently at the Navy Lodge, got my "i'm a sailor call yesterday, and am now waiting for tonights Meet & Greet and tomorrows PIR. Just over a year ago we were here for our daughter, now it is our youngest and only son. Sigh. At least I know I won't be loaning anymore children to the US Navy, our oldest says no way. Happy being a home body.

Funny thing is just over a year latter I am in the same position. Waiting for another "I'm a Sailor" call and looking forward to PIR. This time it is my son going through bootcamp. Sure hope the snow doesn't arrive for Thanksgiving.

We are all coming up on the anniversary of when our kids left for BC. My girl is doing well waiting for her first deployment as we wait for our son to leave in 20 days for BC as well. Found out today that our girl ranked up to an IS3. That is a Intel Specialist Petty Officer 3rd class. so excited for her.

Definately, more comfortable this time around. Just don't know how well my son will handle things. I'm sure it will be much different from his sister. At least knowledge is power and I don't feel so helpless this time.

Hello Ladies, sounds like all of our sailors are doing well. My Aub is now at her first durty station since graduating from her C school in VA in July. Home for two weeks then she headed up to Whidbey NAS. Two years there and they expect to deploy before the new year. Our second one goes in Sept 27, 1 year and 1 week after his sister. So I will be starting the whole bootcamp experience all over again. Glad to hear all are well. Fair winds and following seas to all.

Momrat, as an experienced CA native it was just a 40 second roller. Very similar to being on the deck of a ship. I know it can be scary at first, but to us it's as normal as the weather.
It's been a while since I gave an update so I thought I would share my girls news. She graduated A school 2nd in her class and has now classed up for C school. She chose Imagery so it will be a long 4.5 months before she graduates.
She has picked her orders and will be headed north of us to Whidbey Island in Puget sound. Her adventure is soon to begin. Hope she's ready, I know she will be glad to be away from her current galleys food. Not the best.

JulieR ~ See Patricia gave you all great places to visit. Maybe my hubby will get down there to finish that "road to no where." LOL I believe it started in WV, he took it to Virginia, then another contractor picked up the leg through Virginia. It is all about getting the VIPs to DC : ) ~ kk

Soooo much more to see and do on the east coast!

JulieR ~ I have heard that others were not impressed with the DVD either. I really think that your daughter will like Norfolk once she is there and settles in. Just remind her that Virginia is not falling into the ocean or sliding anywhere! In addition, it will be easier and cheaper for her to come home too! We know a Marine that is currently in Afghanistan that has been stationed in San Diego for almost 6 years. Before he was deployed, he made the descision that he was coming back to Ohio - done with Cali. : ) ~ kk
