OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I also carry my phone that way when I am at home, my year old grandson thinks everyone does, so when other people are holding him, he puts his whole head in their shirts looking for the phone. We call it a phone holster instead of a bra. He can’t figure out why he can never find Grandpa’s phone.

Wow JulieR ~ I can't fit anything in mine! Except maybe a fallen Cheerio! ~ lol

My cell is alwasy on my desk, in my face, or in my pocket. During class it is on vibrate in front of me, so it wiggles loudly on the hard surface : ) ~ kk

Hope I get some good mail this week, as I did nto get a phone call either : (

JacquieB ~ Our Div 901 is a small group. Several, if not all, of us are members of both. Since there are approximately 88 in a division and 7 divisions for 11/20/2009, we also started a group when the form letters arrived. Since the 901 has added different/responsibilites we decided it was easier to follow or SRs. ~ kk

My son is Div 1, Ship 7 with a PIR of Nov 20th. He is doing well, says he is a section leader. He grew up in the Navy and is glad to be back in that world. His wife and son live with us as well as our younger son who is a firefighter and EMT. It is hard having him gone, but helps to have a full house including a toddler.
