WELCOME to PIR 11/21/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi ladies, I was wondering if anyone knows what happens after PIR if your SR is undesignated.

Comment by proudnavymom12 on October 14, 2012 at 10:54pm

I am hoping that today was there letter writing day! I have been mailing letters almost everyday! And writing to many other SR's that are not getting mail! At this point I am happy with a letter or call! Anything to know he is ok! My son is in ship 03/Div.018. Left for BC Sept. 27th. Praying this will be a good week for us all!

Dancing Sailor you may be able to get that info from the A-school group on this site. Most of the A-school have a group page on here if you do a group search you should be able to find and ask that question there.

For all those thinking about travel plans you can go ahead and reserve your hotel room. It is important to book early since it is Thanksgiving week for you guys. Most of the hotels there don't charge or put a hold on your card for reserving the room. Plus they allow you to change or cancel your reservations up to the day your are due to arrive without a fee of any kind. So to get the room and hotel you want you can book early. The Navy Lodge has kitchenettes for the same price as a regular room :-)

mawhinney, it is very normal for those first letters from the recruits to be down or show signs of being homesick. In most cases it gets better each week and you can tell that through their letters. By the 4th week they have usually gone from hating it and wondering what the heck they have gotten themselves into,  to I think I can do this and then to omg I am so happy with my decision and I love it. the changes are amazing :-)

Good Afternoon ladies, I hope everyone has had a great weekend. My SR is on Ship 13 Div 11. I have receives 2 personal letters this week from him 1 on Tuesday and 1 on Friday I have also received the Letter with the correct PIR date on it. He still sounds real home sick is this normal? He has been at bc since September 25th.

DancingSailor:  Sorry, I don't, but I know they have to "phase up" before they can leave the base for liberty.  However, maybe on-base visitation is allowed before that?  He will find this all out when he goes through INDOC upon arrival there.

Comment by diannep on October 14, 2012 at 4:55pm

Yes, DancingSailor is correct.  It is on the RTC FB page.

GL A School students, therefore, will have liberty for the remainder of Wed, the 21st (after they move over to GL A School right after PIR finishes), Thanksgiving Day, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (all daytime liberty...they must be back at night).

Those flying out with have daytime liberty on Wed and Thanksgiving Day, and families can have airport visits with them on Friday.

Angel, I am SC mom. I am two hours from Nuke school. My husband is a retired Navy Nuke Officer. I have posted before that I would love to be a SC mom to kids that are stationed in Charleston. Please let me know if he ever wants to come to my home during his liberty.

Hi all, just found out what my son's PIR date was.  He started on 9/26. I didn't get the form letter, guess he sent that to his Dad.  This was the first contact I had from him since I got the I made it call that first night.  He will be going on to SC for Nuke school. Any idea what their liberty will be since Thursday is Thanksgiving?

I also got a call from my Sailor on a Sunday. It was in the evening around 8 her time. She had missed the call on Friday when her division had calls because she  was SIQ (sick in quarters) after having her wisdom teeth removed. Her RDC let her make up the call and he let her do it from his office. The area code was different, not 847. I remember her saying there was a bowl of candy right there on his desk and she wanted a piece sooooo bad lol. But she did not take a piece lol.

If you traveling and no access modify your message too. I have my 3 questions and then say just tell me everything you want to say. But like many others my phone goes everywhere AND the volume is up. I'm at week 4 1/2.
