I have seen some funny stories about what comes home in "the box"...trash, only one sock, some throw in their ID etc and have to have it mailed back to them.
The trash (wrappings from the issued gear) is always a funny one to me. The one sock sparked a fun "whose is it" but I think now it is the other half of the pair for the "valuable sock" When they are in processing days they put all of their valuables in the "valuable sock" and wear it tucked into their pantst. My son said they did it for a while after they were in their Compartment as well.
Here is a video that shows the valuable sock: (MIN 6:38-6:54)
Pudsey26 - Well, when your emotions are whirring then yes, you probably have moments of feeling offeneded LOL! BUT try to give the benefit of the doubt to your recruit. It is a very "snap to it" time and they are being yelled at and instructions are coming out lickety split. It can be very disorienting. Some forget their address etc. So they will fall back on what they do know! Since they can only send the important information to one person. That person has to get the info out.
Tjmax513-
My son mentioned in his letter that he wasn't starving so I guess the food is good.
Pudsey26- Okay! That is where it could be then! I hope it is, so you don't have to worry anymore.
They have All-Male Divisions at BC and Integrated (male/female) Divisions at BC.
The males/females in the Integrated Divisions will have the same Ship/Div numbers and will train together but will then be housed with other males/females from other Divisions within the same compartment on the Ship.
Pudsey26 - Is there anyone else that she would have sent the box too?
-Are you in a rural area where things take longer?
-Did she have anything to send back? (some take the clothes on their back, essentials, use the Pay phone for there "I'm here" call and throw the clothes away thus not needing to send a box home)
The Form Letter can take as long as three weeks. ..ahhh which you are coming up too. Again, is there someone else that she would have sent it too?
Pudsey26 - I think ellen expalined about the "how". I was responding to her remark about the number of compartments and then of course I had to add some fun stuff! LOL
Here is her response again:

Males and Females are on the same ship, and each ship has separate compartments. I don't remember how many compartments are in each ship, but I am thinking it is eight (don't quote me :)). Those compartments are also numbered as though your SRs were actually on a ship.
Was there something else about the males and females being housed together and how it works that I can try to clarify for you? :-) Be happy to if I can!
