OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I just got a call from my sailor in Div 016!! He passed Battlestations, though not everyone from the division did. He was the only person in NEX when he called (earlier, he had a special meeting with other award winners), so hopefully sailors from 013 and 014 will be able to make their calls soon!
I won't be at PIR but it is so exciting that he's made it all this way! Congratulations to all our sailors!!!

They are allowed to travel within 50 miles of Great Lakes. It is a strict rule.

From the RTC Family Guide:

  • Recruits may not travel more than 50 miles from base during liberty, meaning no further than downtown Chicago.

Comment by Julia on November 19, 2012 at 5:40pm
Ok so what about going downtown Chicago for dinner? Do you know how far they can travel? I thought 3 hours max.
Comment by Julia on November 19, 2012 at 5:38pm
Thank you both!!!!

Unfortunately no, on the Liberty return time. That is for those returning to RTC. GL A Schoolers, the return time is listed as 2200 hours (this is always subject to change as well).

You won't find this out until PIR day (RTC returns). Even if you are told something before then, plan for that time...but know that it CAN change for any reason. Sorry, :-(

Miles mom thank you.
Does anyone know if we have a solid ending time for liberty on Wed? Also, can they go swimming or do they have to stay in uniform?
