Gail where are you from. We live in Florida. We are going to fly to the graduation.
Hi Gail my son is in your daughter div 902 ship 2 that is the performing. Its like the band divisions and rifle and color guard all 900 divisions are performing division. I know that my son was never in band lol He played football. LOL
One more thing, our daughter is going to Gulf Port for A school. Do any of you veteran mom's have an opinion on when she will be leaving for Gulf Port, Friday, Saturday or Sunday?
Our daughter is a ship 02 div 902. We had heard the 900 divisions are something different, maybe music? Does anyone know?
I have heard alot about sarge..can he help with getting from airport to motel?
That sounds really good, not sure logistically if I can wing it. My sailors Dad left this life 5 years ago and his younger brother is a freshman in college and coming home the night of PIR. I am trying to see if he will cut out of school early and fly with me to Chicago. I am going to wait about 2 more weeks before I book flights to let things play out a bit more. Thank you for the info and support as always!
Julia: Since yours is flying out, they could really fly out at any time. It's hard to know, but in the past, it has been so sad to see parents book their return flights the next day, only to find out that their sailors had more liberty time. Chicago is a nice area to explore so worst that can happen if you stay through the weekend is that your sailor will fly back on Fri or Sat and you can sightsee for the remainder of your trip (my older son and I did this after our sailor flew out...).
Yes, you should have liberty with your sailors on Thanksgiving Day. Unless some are flying out that day...you never know about that. Usually they don't, but never say never in the Navy! If moving over to GL A School (happens right after PIR), they should have daytime liberty through the weekend (other than any "watch" time). To be safe, try and book your return flights later on Sunday, or even on Monday if possible. Would hate for you to miss time with your sailors and by the time they have their flight arrangements, it probably will be too late for you to book yours being Thanksgiving weekend.
BMLMOM: Just sent you a friend request!
I would like to know too if they are free on Thanksgiving and do we think it will be just for a few hours? I plan to arrive Tuesday and leave Thursday night but may want to stay until Friday. My son is going down to Florida so not sure if he will leave Thursday or Friday. Any guidance is appreciated. (3 weeks 2 days and still no form letter.I'm over it)
