WELCOME to PIR 11/21/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

BMLMOM:  Yes, you can plan to have Thanksgiving with your sailor somewhere there in town.  I see you are from Miami too (me too!) so I'm sure you won't be taking him home!  :-)

The sailors will most likely fly out Friday or Saturday.  GL A School sailors should have daytime liberty with families through the weekend.

Being that PIR is on Wed. Will they have liberty Wed-Sun? Can they hv Thanksgiving with us?

If there are girls in the DIV then it is most likely integrated. Normally they have all male divisions and integrated (male/female) divisions. There was one division not long ago that was all female but that was in celebration of the anniversary of WAVES. So I doubt they will have the all female divisions again any time soon. In the integrated divisions the guys and girls do all the training and everything else together except for sleeping. They sleep in different areas :-)

Victoria's mom, you will have to write to your recruit and have her send the password to you in a letter. Public affairs won't give it out to anyone and they won't send a second newsletter. The password is something that is not allowed to be shared at all with anyone. They are very strict about it because it allows people onto the base and all of the Sailors have to be protected. But your recruit should be able to remember it and be able to give it to you in a letter. The only way on base without it is to take a shuttle from one of the hotels or maybe park off base at the train station and walk onto base.

Kryss, How do you know if it is an integrated division?

Comment by Ajrydson on October 5, 2012 at 8:59pm

My form letter said the 23rd, but the website and various other sources say it is Wed. Makes sense going in to the holiday week-end. The password for the graduation is on the form letter approx page 3 at the top of the page with the family members list.

Anybody on is in Ship 14/ Div 13?  That's what one by daughter is attached to.

Victoriasmom, I just notice that. Wow, thats great! So he must be in an intergrated div. I'm just glad I got his form letter today. I've been waiting almost two weeks. Yes, it says Nov. 23 but I'm gather it must be the 21 since it's on the navy boot camp website.
